God, I hope Nash is traded tonight. 2 weeks of NashBuzz would be unbearable.

Exactly.

If you are even considering dealing Schenn or Cooties you better be waiting till the off-season and target Weber or another top d-man.

I always thought Nash was overrated as is. He keeps saying how happy he is and how he wants to be the face of Columbus. Let him rot there.

- flyer_nutter

I think a change of scenery would jump start him bigtime. Nash is an amazing talent.

Their forwards play outstanding team defense, and provide excellent (and consistent) puck support. Result? The defense looks great this year. Their forwards were not playing as well, nor as consistently last year.

Granted, both Del Zotto and McDonaugh have made strides in their games as well, but the play of the forwards and the overall commitment to team defense is what is keeping the Rangers at the top of the league.

Oh, and they have some guy named Lundqvist or something like that who is also pretty good. Although he was good last year too, so I'm not sure he's as big a part of the overall team improvement as the forward/team defensive play is.

- BringBack25

The thing that really impresses me is that they managed this without Staal until January 2. And he's really their #1 defenseman. You have a team there that is buying what the coach is selling nearly every night and it shows.

Getting a guy who has led the NHL is scoring and probably would challenge for it every year with Giroux as his center isn't throwing him away.
- Jsaquella

I'll say this.

Giroux will need a raise in due time. So will Cooties and Schenn. Lets even say you deal one of them.

The Flyers do not need to be targetting a player like Nash. His cap hit is too large and imho it is throwing Bobrovksy away. If you are going to trade assets then target top d-men.

Is adding Nash going to push this team past the other best teams in the league? Or would adding a top d-man make that more of a reality.

Who needs defenders, or goalies, when you can score 10 a game.

He is a great deal more PR savvy than others we can think of. His professionalism in the way he deals with this makes him even more attractive to a team that would be interested in him. He's an adult and acts like one.

It could potentially be dynamic. But it doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons. Not to mention the cap implications it would have.

Is Nash really that good? Good enough to blow up your cap structure and further damage the forward corps defensive issues?

I say absolutely no thanks.

- MBFlyerfan

Its like adding Kovalchuk or Stamkos.

Now its Nash.

I wont be twisting my nipples and praying he comes here.

Agreed.

But you don't have to assume Nash isn't worth a lot to know he isn't the piece your team is missing.

Apparently so was Bobby Ryan, Shea Weber, Ryan Suter & a host of others doesn't mean it will happen or even that it has a shot.

I think he would make sense for a lot of teams, but not for the Flyers. Not when every single cent available needs to be invested into the D core.

I think he would be a solid fit in Calgary, LA or Toronto.

Personally, I'd like to see Bobrovsky moved to the untouchable category that Schenn and Cooties hold.

Dont throw him away so casually.

- flyer_nutter

If I am moving BOB it's not till the off-season when I can get more teams interested as probably a batter return.

For people that follow this stuff more, what is the real possibility that there will actually be some sort of amnesty thing at the beginning of the next CBA?

Why would anyone want to trade top-notch assets for Nash given our defensive woes?

Plus, JVR would have to be going the other way you would think, and that's obviously not happening now given his injury status.

Flyers should sit this one out.

Guess the Flyers are going to try and outscore teams if they add Nash. We all know the defense wont be there. I have no idea why this guy is even being talked about by the Flyers (when they need defense).

Not likely, but things could always change in the off-season when talks intensify.

It's like when we were linked to Kovalchuck. People just got carried away, but it never made any logical sense.
