I would love Nash on the team, but not his Cap hit, and I wouldn't want it in place of getting defensive help.

However, I do think there may be validity in this, if for no other reason then to keep him away from the Ranger and Toronto, or Drive up the price those teams have to pay for him.

I'd rather the Flyers direct their attention at Bobby Ryan. Much more affordable and with Giroux could put up Nash like goal numbers for years

Agreed, but like I said, I think its more to increase what New York or Toronto have to pay. Drive the price up, then say... Im out... My buddy is a rangers fan, and I pointed out that if they got Nash, and lets assume it takes Dubinsky and Staal... 6 players take up half thier cap space next year... That's bad...

The Sports Illustrated NHL Players Poll continues to supply contentious little factoids, and again it's at the expense of a Toronto Maple Leafs player.

Please recall defenseman Dion Phaneuf leading his peers by a wide margin on the list of the NHL's most overrated players. The latest question answered anonymously by 145 NHL players: Which All-Star-caliber player is the easiest to intimidate?

The top responses:

Phil Kessel, Toronto Maple Leafs RW 15%
The Sedin Twins, Vancouver Canucks F's 8%
Alexander Semin, Washington Capitals LW 7%
Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks C 3%
Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey Devils LW 3%

Yea, they won't get Nash. Rangers arent gonna be able to make a big acquisition, it is way to risky with the way they are playing.

If I were Holmgren, I'd do what it took to get Bobby Ryan from Anaheim without giving up Schenn or Couturier.

Giroux and Ryan would be one of the top pairings in the game for the next 3 seasons minimum. To me, that is a no brainer and exactly what G needs.

Does anyone else think it is sickening how cheap the Rangers defense is, and yet they are that good.... I mean what are they spending on defense... 13 million? Thats like Timonen and Meszaros' cap hits...

If they aren't going to give up Schenn or Couturier, then it would be difficult to get Ryan.

Two players are on EL deals, that will change very soon.

That's the benefit of home grown talent. Young, cheap, and good enough to be at the top of the NHL.

McDonaugh and Del Zotto are on EL contracts. Both will be in line for hefty raises if they continue to play well.

God I (frank)in hate the Rangers but they are a great team this year ...having the best goaltender in the game gives that D a ton of confidence that even if they make mistakes Henrik will be there making saves he shouldn't be making

If I were Homer, I would just sit back and see how things unfold. See if LA gets the scoring they need from Carter. Drive up the price for Nash, and see if Toronto lands either Nash or Carter.

I would stay active to find out what people are bidding on defense, but not going to overpay on anything. Then at the last minute I would make moves with the teams that were unable to get what they wanted for the defenseman we need.

If I trade JVR and Couts or Schenn for Nash, I tell Columbus they need to take Bryzs contract.

Although it won't happen, Columbus was scouting New York, not Philly.

Right now I'm assuming the Rangers are like the Washington Capitals have been in years past. I'm not selling them short, they have the coaching a goaltending but I'm not solid on the D and the offense. I feel that if a team can manage to score on Lunqvist, they're dead in the water in a 7 game series. I'm not convinced they're as strong as the Bruins. I think the Bruins could beat up on them pretty easily.

Someone had suggested this player before, what about adding a player like Kyle Quincey from Colorado. He is having a decent year and can play physical game as well. Cap hit 3.1M and will be a RFA this summer.

I know this isnt very sportsman like, but if I'm Lavi, I dress Shelly in game 1 against the rangers or Boston and tell him to take the Goalie out... we will pay the fine for you... If Shelly cant do it... Sestito next game... If Sestito cant... Rinaldo...

The Rangers are pretty good. I think Boston is still the team to beat bc of experience and being the defending champs. The Rangers style of play I feel is more suited for the playoffs than then regular season. Scoring goals on the Rangers could even become more difficult come playoff time.

I dont want to trade Bryz. I think he is going to turn it around. I have heard before that Bryz goes through streches where he is very good, and streches where he is very bad, I would be a weeks salary that before the end of the season, we will be seeing the Bryz we thought we were getting. If you look at his last 8 games, you can see things are starting to turn around.

The Rangers have our number. I wouldn't want to face them in the playoffs. As for their system, outside of having Brad Richards, they're not much different from what they were a year ago.

I disagree, I think he is going to start getting the majority of reps. I think the Flyers are going to get a defenseman to play in front of him. I think they may even get some defensive role players for checking rolls. And I think he is going to start putting up monster numbers... And I think Philly will adopt the BREEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ chant.
