giroux would be well served playing w/ a better 2 way winger at this point.
- isaiah520

Giroux would be well served to work on his own defensive game instead of being a spectator. He had the best seat in the house as he watched Datsyuk skate right by while he stopped, leaving Datsyuk wide open for a one timer goal on the PP.

my big problem with this bs suspension is now Rinaldo can be considered a repeat offender. I get they want to take the hits to the head out of the game, but he didn't target the head.

What the penalty call was is irrelevant. A player can be suspended even if there wasn't a penalty called.

He was already a repeat offender, He was just fined twice a week ago for a couple of incidents.

The suspension has nothing to do with whether or not he targeted the head.

If Rinaldo doesnt leave his skates the suspension would never happen. The defenseman was in prime spot to be punished (looking back at his pass). I can understand why he suspended him as he elevated himself into the Detroit player. Keep your skates down on the ice and theres no problem with the actual hit.

what a bunch of horsepoop. it was ok except his skates can 3 inches off the ice surface. go (frank) yourself shana-tard. oh he's a repeat offender, now so i can fine him anytime he makes a hit. (frank) that. that's such crap. total bullpoop. complete reputation call.

Sorry I should have said he hasn't been suspended before. The late hit he was fined for recently I can't remember was it really a late hit or borderline?

i'm aware of that, my point was the refs got it right, it was a 2minute minor and nothing more. shanahan lost his mind, IMO

I've bitten the inside of my mouth four times in two days.

I hope this isn't the start of a trend.

if a Flyer had flubbed that play like Filpula did, would it still be the top trending topic here on HB? that was quite the miss.

No it doesn't mean that he can fine him anytime he makes a hit. Rinaldo isn't doing anything to earn a reputation? Slew footing players? Rinaldo is innocent and wrongly accused?

Shanahan makes a perfectly clear explanation for the ruling. Don't leave your feet and launch yourself into the hit.

regarding the Rinaldo hit, he left his feet. But it makes me wonder whether he left his feet to avoid having his head hit Ericsson's shoulder due to their size difference. Not that it would negate the charging call, but could be a bit of self-preservation going on there.

70% of the calls against rinaldo would not be made against any other player. he absolutely did not deserve a suspension for that check that shanahan all but said was legal. his skates barely left the ice and eriksson's knees were both bent. shanahan has lost all credibility in my eyes.

You should write him a strongly worded letter informing him of your assessment.
