Good plan. Complaining about those contracts should give HB critical mass on hits for the next 6-8 years!

I love when guys ignore the cap hit and female dog about the actual yearly salary.

Heres a great idea.. forget about the amount they are making.. the team is the only person to blame for that!

I really don't concentrate on what anyone is making except when evaluating the logic of a deal. I couldn't care less who makes what. The Flyers will spend to the cap so it's not like it's going to be affecting my pocketbook one way or the other.

18.00 shoulder to the sternum perfectly legal, his momentum at the point of contact got him airborne.

- Flyers4Life88

I don't know. That looks clean to me. I can barely get a "one-thousand-one" in there between when Ericsson gets rid of the puck and when Rinaldo nails him. Technically it is a smidge late, but it certainly wasn't egregious. At first I thought it was shoulder to chin, but it looks more like shoulder to sternum as you say and his feet were on the ice at the point of contact. Looks like two mins and two games for being Rinaldo.

I am more concerned with the d-breakdowns that always seem to be leaving a guy wide open on the door step on the back side of the play.
Oh well maybe Shelley will score a big goal in his 2:35 TOI vs. buffalo.

But as we've seen with Pronger, one concussion incident is all you need. He had no history of concussions and....blatto! All our concerns about his being older and the nagging little things (knee, wrist) turned out to be completely unimportant when measured against one noggin incident.
- bodiva88

Well sure, anyone can get hit in the eye and have it end their career. That's just unfortunate luck. Age was starting to catch up to Pronger, but let's be frank here, that stick to his eye ended his career most likely. You can proceed with caution when offering long term contracts, but you can't get spooked based on some freak occurrences.

I dont know whats going to happen. I would like the Flyers to sign Suter and Grossman or Boychuk. If that means we have to trade another defenseman/forward do it.
- stveshdy

Wb a team like PHX 8th seed in the west...Yandle at 5.25...they're gonna need forwards come july give up vorack or jvr and a draft pick

I think they make a hard sell for Suter in FA. And try to trade for or sign another inexpensive veteran PK specialist type d-man and forward.

Nothing that will cost too many assets. But you can guarantee Suter will be the prize this offseason. Homer will get it done if at all possible. According to Cap geek they will have $5,681,627 in cap space at the current number for next off season. They will have to lose some existing non UFA players to fit him. Remember Prongers number goes back on until they can LTIR him at the start of the season.

I love Yandle. Would love to add a player of his caliber. Think he is a very underrated defenseman in the league. Has all the tools and plays against teams top lines.

The Rangers should pull the trigger if thats all Columbus wants. The upgrade is worth it.

- stveshdy

I agree, Carter on the wing would be a really solid upgrade. Up the middle Carter's game is so-so, but on the wing, when healthy, he is instantly the Rangers second best scoring threat.

Two weeks away, we'll see soon I suppose.

I would rather them go for a dman who can play defense. Though he has improved in that area over time.

I also believe they can go 10% over the cap during the summer. Homer will make enough room to do whatever he wants. They can get rid of Shelley and his 1.1M also.

Kronwall's hit was great. I'd like to see more Flyers apply those kind of checks.

My point on Rinaldo was the 'distance traveled' aspect of the charging rule.

- tangent_man

Have to get to the puck carrier somehow. I am all for taking headshots out of the game, but players need to be able to bring physical play. Again, it was a hair, and just a hair, late. He didn't leave his feet until after contact was made. He didn't hi Ericson in the head. It is a call that could go either way in any given game. He shouldn't get a ban for that, but I'm not Shanny either.

Both are older. Would like the Flyers to go younger in the offseason (Suter).

Yandle a plus 12 for his career, being the only relevant d man on the team and like you said plays the top lines in the west on a nightly basis, would also help the PP

I'm talking about the trade deadline... Get Selannie and Visnovsky. Visnovsky has a 5 mil cap hit, not that bad for a 1-2 d-man. Then you can try and sign Suter in the offseason, and if you like what you get from Visnovsky, then you can extend him when timonen is gone...

Yandle is a stud. I just dont think Phoenix would move him. I suggest him as an opinon the other day but theres probably no chance of getting him.

Visnovsky is 35 years old. I dont want anymore old defenseman. Get younger guys who can stay around longer and play with the youth forwards we have in their prime.

I dont know what Phoenix would want in return. You would think a young defenseman plus a forward who can play now. How much money are they willing to take back being a small market.

Edit: Cap hit is 5.25M until 2016. Carle is going to make the same or more and is two years older. I would hold onto Yandle if I was Phoenix. He is a legit first pairing defenseman.

Phx has no youthful depth (raffi I'll take your head off torress, shane my career sucks doan, ray idfk whitney houston) tossing them JVR would be risky but i think they would bite for him
