Generally speaking, Red Wings fans have class. The whole "act like you've been there before" thing.

I'm sure some of our guys go to other teams threads and poop the bed but it was cool to get a compliment.

Bob is purposely playing pedestrian so he doesn't get traded. There I said it.

I'm with Jsaquella. It should have been fundamentally clear to everyone at the time of the Richards/Carter trade that this would be a transition year, if not an outright rebuilding year. The fact that they've remained so competitive while giving so many minutes to the young guys speaks volumes about their potential. The team will be really really good in another 2+ years.
- Tartan69

Exactly.

If you had told me prior to the season that this team would be in the middle of the playoff pack in February, I would have thought it was quite a stretch.

Dont sell the farm, get a guy like Gill, and hopefuly Bryz gets better soon. Now going to get down on Bob, but soon when Bryz gets settled people will be happy we have him. Its growing pains and Lava has done a excellent job. Also 7 games in 10 days is nothing to scoff at either. W00t

This isn't the team from last year that was favored to win the cup at midseason and swan dived in the second half.
- JoeRussomanno

Not sure if you recall, but they have (big) issues EVERY year around February. This year it is a young team. Last year it was... [fill in the blank]. The year before that something else.

Apart form yesterday, 3 other weekend games it was clear that they were losing before the 3rd period has started or very soon after.

BTW, I'd say that 6-0 after 2 periods IS taking time off. Ok, that was just one game.

4th place in the conference gets old too. We are tied with Pens, the Devils are right behind us. As Bill said, we are closer to the bottom than we are to the top. And heading in the opposite direction. That is simply stating facts. There is very little Homer can do at this point. The chips will fall where they want to regardless of your optimism or my female doging. And most people are realistic enough to realize that the odds of winning this year are not very good. AGAIN. So really, it is the same every year.

It's interesting, but maybe Homer does decide to switch gears and instead of being buyers, we stand pat or dump a vet at the deadline (maybe Carle if we are sure we can't sign him). If we continue to falter, maybe this is the way we go. Knowing the go for it nature of the org, it's hard for me to imagine this, but it's possible. I'd still like to see them make the playoffs and maybe make the second round so that the rookies get playoff experience.

I'd personally like to see them get a Gill at the deadline, but I don't give up anything more than a 3rd for him. The D needs help.

so what's your point other than rambling on about how terrible the team is?

The Flyers seem to be playing not to lose instead of trying to win if that makes any sense at all.

You could see exactly how both games would end this weekend, it was easily predictable.

I'm not worried about any of the rookies because they are rookies and learning but I am worried about some of the vets. The defense has been horrible. Brayden Coburn has been dreadful and Matt Carle can't seem to keep the puck on his stick. I have no clue what's going on but I would assume they are both pressing and it's causing issues.

Teams go through periods when they struggle, lets just hope this is one of those rough 10 game stretches and things turn around. They have time now to get it together, get Bryz, Jake and hopefully JVR healthy and playing some good hockey again.

When do you stop using the rookie excuse? I believe 100% that's part of the low right now but the team is not playing as a team. It's more of lack on consistency from the vets, the rookies and the coaching staff.

I am quite proud of how the team is playing this year considering this wasn't suppose to be a "good" year.

I'm more irritated with the coaching staff because it appears as though they are unwilling to change the game plan or fix their system. You can always have a base of a system but change it up from time to time considering who they are playing. It does not appear as though this is happening.

The losing if they right the ship will be beneficial as they head down the stretch.

Maybe he does but nobody can tell because they can't speak Russian.

Or

Bob won't learn english so he won't get traded. Or he did get traded but he couldn't understand Homer so PH gave up and stopped said trade.

The Flyers are definately pressing too much. They have to trust each other out on the ice. Players are trying to do too much out on the ice. Breakdowns are happening bc people are trying to do other peoples jobs. The other issue is you have players standing around watching rather then picking up a player in the defensive zone. These issues can be fixed but it looks like their just not as good as the elite teams in the standings.

overreacting right now is not the way to go IMO...young team, lots of rookies. Just have to realize that they are not as good as the top teams right now. Making a trade for trade sakes is not the way to go...do it if it improves the team, not just to make a move. This team has got to get off of the dump the young players too early merry-go-round and actually try to develop talent at all 3 positions. They have a good coach and I would just like to see them continue to try and build on what they already have.

I agree with this. I don't know if it's a system thing or personnel thing, but I really want these guys to be a hard team to play against. Not only from a physicality standpoint. I want them tight from the goalie out. No lanes to the net. I love the goals, don't get me wrong, but i want the do anything to prevent a shot mentality of a Lappy. Perhaps it's too early and players are saving their health for the PO's, but as we saw last year, it's not easy or likely that you an flip the switch. I'm rambling here, but I'll end it on this: I want our 3rd and 4th lines to grind it out, block shots, play solid defensively and punish the other teams D. But there are injuries, differing personnel, and changing roles. Stability may help.

The system was working the first half. It doesn't magically stop working. It's about execution.

I agree, do not make a knee jerk trade.

Keep the kids and build a monster, trading one of the young guys for stop gap would be a dumb move IMO.

I also think if Bryz can get on his game (I do believe he will) so will help BEEG time.

These stretches are where they will miss Pronger the captain, not Pronger the player. Someone needs to step up and lead the team out of his slump. It just seems there are a lot of individual efforts and not enough as a team.

I was shocked at how much the Flyers destroyed the Wings physically yesterday because the Wings don't dress an enforcer or two and were obviously quaking in their boots #sarcasm

I wish the Flyers went with that model and had a 4th line of hard working pesky players like Helm and company instead of the meathead factory.

Do you think the meathead factory with time be more like the Helm and company line?

They had that until ll the injuries. Once healthy, I think they will revamp the 4th line. I hope anyway ha

well I think they could if it was maybe HarryZ and Wellwood and maybe depending on a few things Rinaldo.

I have zero faith in the two big goons.

I and this is just my personal opinion would like the 4th line players to be young and fast and buzzing around causing chaos and perhaps playing on the PK
