Those are all good points. I don't think you can complain about kronwall's hits and still argue sutton isn't a goon without being a little hypocritical though.

Also while your points are perfectly valid, if kronwall was traded to the oil he would automatically be their best Dman by a mile. I dont see Det trading him either.

I did hear rumors of Selenne to Det, now that would be scary.

Kronwall does not compare offensively to a healthy whitney... the problem is whitney right now is in traing camp form...

I never said Kronwall is a goon, just that some of his hits are questionable, Sutton can play the game but is dirty at times, I don't think I would classify him as a goon though. Why the hate for Sutton? is it because of his hit on Landy? (Which 3 years ago would have been a good hit) He is a very capable 5-6 dman who makes it harder to play against the oil. and he can toe drag like a ma fu**er

I saw 'The Grey' the other day... pretty cool flick if you like death.

- robin_steele264

The Grey was awesome, went in expecting Liam Neeson vs wolves, walked away with so much more. Also going to recommend Chronicle, surprisingly well done movie and best use of the "found footage" genre I've ever seen.

In hockey news, going to agree with the danger of drafting a defenseman. Yes we obviously need some good ones bad. But we have a former 3rd overall pick on our team now in Cam Barker. Best player available is still the best choice. Only real untouchables I see on our defense are Whitney, Sutton, Gilbert, Smid. Whitney is looking good better again and can be our #1, put Smid and Gibby back together and Sutton as a 5/6. Use the remainder to work towards a #2

What would Whitney generate at the TDL? I know he is our best dman... But if we were to trade him what would he fetch?

If Petry played with Whitney or someone equivalent he could possibly round into that 2nd dman spot in time IMO...

Agreed. My point is if you want to look who some people think are untouchable you have Whitney, Petry, Gilbert, Smid, Sutton, Potter... which doesn't give us too much room to work with.

Nobody is untouchable. Like the saying goes If Gretzky can be traded so can anyone. If Nashville were to be open to trading Weber do you not think we'd be willing to trade one of our "untouchables"? I know id be willing to do an RNH for Weber swap

I wouldn't say he's our best defenseman right now. Injuries factor in, but he still hasn't looked good. Not good enough that I would rely on him.

Sutton could very well be a #7. He wasn't exactly suppose to play a full year this year so I'd assume the same can be true for next year. I also think if Potter isn't playing well he could be in OKC at some point. You also have to wonder if we go with 8 d-men next year just because of past injury histories.

Even though it looks crowded right now I still think we could be adding a couple of pieces.

Eberle goes before RNH, in my opinion.

edit: Not to mention Weber being 8 years older.

To be honest if we were offered something significant for Whitney I would dump him... he is a (frank)ing time bomb waiting to explode... if the price was right tambi would get a promotion not get fired... cut your losses as whitney on the ice is only a limited time and I would rather get something of substance than someone of the IR all year next year or retired IMO...

Just offersheet Weber 8.5-9 mill per... He is a western guy... I think he would play for the highest bidder plus he knows we will be a great time in a very short time if he signed with us... Nashville will never sell weber though... and for what the offersheet will cost who cares they will be later first rounders by that time anyway...

Id have to think if we were to get Yakupov he or Eberle would be on the move. Same with if we were to get Grigorenko he or RNH would be on the move as they would fetch more than Gagner in a trade and i doubt wed keep all three.

depends... are we being overly cautious with RNH or is he made of glass??? cause I am concerned he is looking like the latter right now... the chicago fall against the boards was average and the brown hit was below average for an NHLer... just saying... we know he has the skill and smarts but a couple average plays and he is out???

True, however we don't know the extent of the damage done during the first fall, even though it looked fairly harmless could have tweaked something in just the right way. Either way I hope they look even closer this time before he comes back and hope he gains at least 5 pounds over the summer.

Well it's not just him. Hall and Eberle have both missed time so it's not like RNH is the only one getting beat up. I have to think they're being overly cautious because why wouldn't you be.

Why can't we keep all of them and trade other forwards for defenseman? If we have an elite forward group do we really need a spectacular defense?

Exactly. If that's the case possible starting lineup for 2012-2013
Hall-Nuge-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Yakupov
Jones-Horcoff-Smyth
Eager-Belanger-Petrell

Whitney-Petry
Smid-Gilbert
Sutton-Potter
Chorney, Fedun, Peckham, etc.

I'm okay with that.

There's that and the fact that we could end up drafting a d-man anyway. Maybe we get the 2nd overall pick, doesn't mean that we use it. Could trade down.
