I agree, it's probably that 40 lbs of muscle he put on in the off season.

Okay so your saying its Gary Roberts fault??

hmmmm.......... hasn't slowed Stamkos down one bit.

exactly...
- Big_Lightnin

Even thinking about a guy like Carter going for a 1st and Voracek. That's the kind of deal Toronto can make. It didn't work out for CLB, mostly because Carter just doesn't want to be there, but the guy is a 35-45 goal scorer and 1st line center.

Richards for Schenn/Simmonds... again, a deal Leafs have assets to make.

Whether you do it as the Leafs or whoever else is another story, but suggesting Leafs don't have assets to make deals happen for a top six player...

Not bad for a UFA you had no hope to sign.
- robin_steele264

Exactly. Sadly nobody like that available at the moment (high end UFA). Leafs can easily make a deal like that...

Pluggin the hole in the Titanic is easier than finding a #1 center..

Schenn never worked out with Gary Roberts.

He works out in the off season with Shea Weber. Schenn shouldn't have put that weight on because he was an average skater to begin with. Weber can handle weight gain to get stronger because he's a strong skater.

Plugging depth is easier than pluggin a hole at 1C, IMO.
- Brian Huddle

Sure it is...

if that were the only hole they had I would go for it.

The bigger picture is that this team is nowhere close to contending.

... and I don't think those guys get you the quality of return that would make it worthwhile. You aren't getting Getzlaf or Staal. You *might* pry Stastny away... but Stastny is not the answer to the Leafs problems...

then what do you do next year when your team is no better AND you don't have the luxury of depth of good young D AND you have no real potential young forward star potential in the system.

I don't think the Leafs could (frank) it up that much, if they tried.

They wouldn't even get that right.

I call bullpoop. Weber can handle it because Suter does most of the skating anyways.
That sounded harsh lol, sorry Brian. I'm on a bit of a jerk kick today.

Maybe if the top 6 forward is an accomplished 22 year old prospect. Your analysis of Schenn is way off, not sure what you have against him but you should move on to somebody else.
- dionschenn

Good thing Burke doesn't agree with you.......... that is why Burke has dangled him around the league.

If he was as good as you think, Burke would not be trading him........ PERIOD!!

ummm, you got your facts a little wrong there. A few GM's have asked about Schenn....he hasn't been shopped.

True, but then again I don't think Weber actually packed on a lot of weight. Schenn did. Which is ridiculous when you realize he was likely at his optimal playing weight last season.

But you get the picture.. he didn't train with Roberts. He spent the summer with Weber. He actually turned down Roberts program when his bro went to go see him.

That's like saying Pronger was better than Neidermayer....Suter's the quarterback. Webers the beast.

PS: look up weber's numbers without suter. It's kind've like Phaneuf without Hamrlik in Calgary.

By this same token, Price must suck. Since he's been shopped to pretty much every team in the NHL, with no takers.

If he is required to land a quality piece in return, he will be gone. After nearly 4 seasons in the league, I think we have a good idea of whether or not the potential to be "much more" is there. He might tighten up his game a bit, but I think he is going to end up maxxing pretty much where he is now.
