ya thats why one is a plus 8 and tho other is even. one guy has 17 points the other 4, one is 22 the other is 30. one player wont get a bag of practice pucks and the other can get a top 6 player. stop just stop.
- leafsdc

If Burke could have gotten a top 6 forward for Schenn............ Schenn would be wearing a different jersey these days

stop just stop already with the Schenn love affair

so your saying army can provide ,

1- blocking shots
2- being a physical player
3- keeping the team upbeat on the ice

so which on of those cant boyce do, boyce also brings a ton of speed to the first 2 elements as well.

Except the last CBA had one.

And a buyout helps the poor as well as the rich.

A small-market team would rather pay a financial penalty and get rid of a mistake, than continue to have that mistake affect their playoff drive.

- Atomic Wedgie

I don't claim to know the details of the CBA, but doubt that the next CBA will have a no-fault buyout clause..JMO

ok.. this is to be taken as if army was on his game

he's far more physical, he cycles down low WAY better, as a higher offensive upside, and can agitate the opposition til they are off their game, not to mention he's a more experienced and far better on ice leader.

problem is right now.. he's still recovering from massive amounts of time off in the last two years... so truth is.. he isnt on his game

I cant believe how everybody is so sold on shipping Schenn out of town. He has shown he can shutdown the best of them and is having a bad year.

I think his issue is footspeed. He needs to drop some bulk to regain some speed to keep up.

Not top line forwards with size, they don't.

Name a single prospect the Leafs have that anyone not drinking blue Kool-aid thinks will become a top line forward or top pairing D.

We don't have it.

Kadri, Franson and Frattin isn't going to get you a 1st line forward.

Sorry, it just isn't going to get it done.

You don't think packaging some of the young guys like Franson/Gardiner/Colborne/Kadri/1st won't get you some good packages out there?
- Brian Huddle

Actually, no I don't.

I don't think those guys will get them a good #1 goalie or a good #1 center.

If you have to trade like 4 or 5 assets to get ONE of a goalie or center, it is counterproductive.

All we can do is wait, and hope that they draft well and somehow, some marlies like Scrivens/Rynnas and Colborne develop well.

I agree, it's probably that 40 lbs of muscle he put on in the off season.

Maybe if the top 6 forward is an accomplished 22 year old prospect. Your analysis of Schenn is way off, not sure what you have against him but you should move on to somebody else.

Hossa went for Colby, Erik Christenson, Angelo Esposito and a 1st.

The package for Brad Richards to Dallas was centered around Mike Smith.

Forsberg to Nashville? Upshall, Parent, 1st.

And what Thornton was traded for.

Yeah, I know it happens. Sometimes. When you wish upon a star.

P.S. Kovalchuk was a bit different - the end of his contract and lack of hope of getting his name on a new one was what drove those negotiations...

you're really out there.

Could he get a top 3 player for Schenn? No.

But top 6? ya, pretty easily. Burkie's not trading Schenn for a 2nd liner unless it's Patrick Sharp (or something like that).

Pluggin the hole in the Titanic is easier than finding a #1 center..
