Cap space is not the issue now. They are set up well contract-wise. They lack the resources to acquire the resources that they are missing... except for maybe a coach. They could go get a new one. Hopefully they will.

You don't think packaging some of the young guys like Franson/Gardiner/Colborne/Kadri/1st won't get you some good packages out there?

schenn:

1. can't skate for his life
2. is horrendus with the puck
3. often finds himself out of position

for those 3 reasons alone, he needs to be dealt before the league catches on.

- Pen15

1] guess komi can skate better
2] guess komi is better with puck
3] guess komi is in better postion

for those 3 reasons alone, he needs to find himself back in the lineup before rw catches on?. oh wait he has already. get a a clue bud.

Not so sure he's "desireable" anymore........ Don Luce the director of player personnel for the Flyers, said when he was tailing the Leafs for a couple of weeks about Schenn............ "He is overrated"

I think so too

- faceto27

that's exactly why he needs to go now....before everyone else catches on.

Olden (splits time, but looks more like a center), Carrick, Ryan, Crescenzi.

EDIT: Eakins has Kadri playing center fulltime with the Marlies this year as well.

- Brian Huddle

I think you missed the part where I mentioned the possibility of being a certain NHL center.

Olden is the only one on your list that can be said about... and not a given he stays a Center

I realize you were just using the Carter contract as an example, but here goes:

If the new CBA contains a salary roll-back like the last one, the Carter contract is going to be an incredible bargain.

- Atomic Wedgie

i understand that, but there talking like they want what the nba had, a free buyout no roll back.

komi has been better at both this season....or at least more consistent.

i don't remember komi gift wrapping nearly as many goals this year as schenn has.

I think Crescenzi is definitely a long term center (Steckel replacement?), Carrick as well. Ryan has been a center in the ECHL and AHL, as well as his last year in the O, though he can lineup anywhere.

And Kadri, to me, is also a long term center.

I'm sure both sides will be happy with a free buyout.

I'm just saying I don't think Carter will be given one by Columbus (or whatever team owns his contract this summer).

I was thining Horcoff.

Doug Maclean thinks the Oilers should keep Gagner and trade Horcoff.

Doug Maclean = genius.

oh for (frank)'s sake...

3 guys who maybe might crack the 4th line one day. But guaranteed only 1 of them does, if at all. And who gives a (frank) if they all make it, not a damn one of them will ever play top 6 in their lives... and that was my point.

I'm not saying Getzlaf. But they have the pieces to get into bidding wars on players. It's not like it's 2008 and we're going "anyone want Stajan? for your star? Hey Sutter..."
