why?
komi has played better defensively than schenn this year...and imo is a much better shutdown dman than schenn at this point. not to mention, a little vetran leadership could go a long way when a young team is battling for the playoffs...
army needs to be given an opportunity....period. - Pen15
schenn was a plus 10 heading to the mtl game on saturday, what are u talking about. |

he's a bad skater, often find himself out of position, and is king at giving the puck away in the worst possible moments...
i'm not saying he won't get better as he progresses, but maybe a few games in the press box will give him some perspective. - Pen15
hey.. i am not against moving schenn.. we got holzer and aulie who play a similar game both ready for full time NHL duties.. especially bottom pairing duties

Colborne is the ONLY prospect the Leafs have in the system who looks like he may actually be an NHL center one day (McKegg still in Jr, and splits time on the Wing).
They should not be trading Colborne unless he is demanded in a trade for somebody HUGE. - Big_Lightnin
Olden (splits time, but looks more like a center), Carrick, Ryan, Crescenzi.
EDIT: Eakins has Kadri playing center fulltime with the Marlies this year as well. |

I think if he is packaged with Schenn and Army, the 3 of them should give us a good return... |

That only means he was on the ice a lot of times when Kessel and Lupul were on fire. That's all it means. |

Colby's played 14 total games. And something like 9 were before he got back from his concussion.
And 10 games after a concussion? A lot of guys would still be feeling some effects after being off. |

exactly.
something's gotta give soon...this logjam at the back needs to be cleared up to get us something up front in return. i think schenn is the odd man out given all of our comparable pieces (that you named above), and the fact his name is most desirable amongts other GMs....which will probably get us a better return. |

rely? why in hell wouldnt they like it. if your a team who has jeff carter u buy him out, the player still gets all his money, it dosent count agasit that teams cap, then that player can go and sighn with a new team for more money. like the nba
example carter is owed 50 mill next 10 years a free buyout like the nba is the player gets the full amount not 2/3rds of it and the team gets the 5 mill off their cap, team would be jackets, then carter becomes ufa, lets say he sighns with kings for 4 years at 16 million, thats an extra 16 million carter would have never got. you can do that with loungo in vancouver and so many other players. works for both sides like nba. - leafsdc
because if the player is over the age of 35, getting a new contract wont be so easy.
meh.. maybe buyouts will be allowed but only to a certain age.. we shall see i guess |

But have the Leafs really been prevented from making a move due to cap space?
I doubt it.
If the Leafs were granted an extra $5 million in cap space last summer, would Burke have really made any different or additional moves?
This team doesn't lack cap space.
It lacks talent, and the ability to acquire that talent. - Atomic Wedgie
Cap space is not the issue now. They are set up well contract-wise. They lack the resources to acquire the resources that they are missing... except for maybe a coach. They could go get a new one. Hopefully they will.

schenn:
1. can't skate for his life
2. is horrendus with the puck
3. often finds himself out of position
for those 3 reasons alone, he needs to be dealt before the league catches on. |

I realize you were just using the Carter contract as an example, but here goes:
If the new CBA contains a salary roll-back like the last one, the Carter contract is going to be an incredible bargain. |

and how far do you think speed is going to get you coming down the stretch of the season??
welcome to playoff type hockey my friend....we have plenty of speed and that hasn't really done us any good of late. what we need is a player to match the style of game being played (close checking, dump and chase board game).....army > lombo at that. |

Not so sure he's "desireable" anymore........ Don Luce the director of player personnel for the Flyers, said when he was tailing the Leafs for a couple of weeks about Schenn............ "He is overrated"
I think so too |
