Bailey needs to seriously work on his shooting. He waits too long to get a shot off and once he does there's very little zip on it. Pretty good in his own zone now, although those weak clears up the middle every so often have to go...and luckily they're much fewer and farther in between now compared to the beginning of the season.

I agree that production-wise, he's been a pretty big disappointment, but I see plenty of good things out there with Bailey and Martin as linemates. They have to find a way to put some points on the board for all the work they do in the offensive zone. That's where Bailey developing a better shot would come in handy. Also, they need a third person on that line who can put the puck in the net. Rhett (at this early stage of his career) and Rolston aren't that guy. It's a shame to see Bailey and Martin do a lot of good work on the boards only to have them dig the puck out to... ... ...Brian Rolston.

Put Ullstrom on that line, or move Nino up and see what happens. If either of those guys is a total flop on that line, it's not like it would be any worse than Rolston now.

Back to the point though, I think "project" still sums Bailey up perfectly. You can't say he's been good because the production's been dreadful. But watching what he does game to game, I don't think you can say he's been awful either. Most games he's fairly noticeable on the forecheck with Martin. Heck, shift to shift I'd say he's more noticeable than Grabner.

Pretty spot on and I don't think anyone really wants to get on Bailey's case but when someone says he's been the 2nd best forward after Tavares as of late, it kind of sets things off.

It was literally right off the face off though. I get you not liking him and thinking he sucks, I totally do. If Shea Weber was standing there it would've done the same thing.

Come on??!! It's a Hat trick. You have to toss your hat!! There used to be a guy who brought those stryofoam hats to every game that sat behind Isles bench. He would pass out a few to kids if someone got 2.. get ready.

http://halloweencostumewo...d.com/images/12571RWB.jpg he would put on Islander sticker on them.. was pretty cool.

Again I disagree they seem to play well and are usually in teh offensive zone more then the third line. They are the fourth line BTW and they are not even supposed to be that good. They are there for defensive reasons and that is all. I dont know any fourth line that really stands out as good.
- kasperrko

The fourth line should fulfill an actual role, not just be a place for bad players to log minutes with hopes that they simply don't do too much harm while they're out there. For example, when the team's play starts to stagnate, you put your fourth line out for a spark...either a fight, or a few big hits, or an ultra high-energy shift, or just stir it up a bit and agitate. Do you see any of that from our fourth line? Toward the end of last season, Martin-Konopka-Haley had no more talent than this year's cast of characters, but their shifts were a heck of a lot more noticeable and had much more impact. They actually served a purpose and had a role.

I would not argue with this post. I just think Bailey might have turned a corner in recent weeks. He is still only 21 and at this point NO ONE is going to give the Islanders a lot for him. I would like to keep him b/c it would be a better return in the long run in my opinion. I guarantee no one is saying.. you can have Suter but only if Bailey is included in the package. No one wants him right now..

This season is over... I am officially in "hoping for draft pick mode". This season was over when they signed all these bums at the last minute.. but the 2-2 to start the last 30 game PUSH FOR THE PLAYOFFS.. has nailed it down for me.

the math: Isles now need to go 18- 6-2 ish to make the playoffs. um.. sell mortimer sell.

Actually I am going to predict something right now. We will hear an announcement about the future of the Islanders during the offseason. We will sign one free agent who will play more of a third line role and another defenseman who will be a third pairing at best. Pulin will be the starting goaltender and we will be even better of a team next year inching even closer to the playoffs. This team is not that far off. They have played som much better then the past few years. Maybe it is Nabby stealing us some games maybe they have matured more. Whatever it is this team is on its way. Whether DP or Bailey or anyone else is still with this team, they will be better

I had to inform him of the announcement every game for a month that a meet and greet with super heros starts at 1:30.. joke

I hear you buddy I was there yesterday my son was on line forever. I got there super early. Spiderman was the worse so we went to Captain America and Iron Man. The Hulk looked ridiculous though.

that was the turning point of the game. I saw it right in front of me and I had no clue what the ref saw. It is that time of year the Islanders getting to close to the playoffs so now we must beat the refs and the team

On a hilarious note about yesterday, here is a video of Butch Goring shelving one on my buddy playing goal to win the Skate with the Greats game.

Guy can't color commentate a game to save his life, but going bar down to win that game looked pretty damn good.

Bailey has been better in his own zone. His skating is better but I think he sees the game a 1/4 step too slow and s reluctant to shoot. He will never produce until he speeds up his decision making. To say he is useless is a bit unfair. If he was a guy we drafted in the 7th round no one would be on him. However to stay on this team past next season he is going to have to step it up offensively.

As for our coach. We are what, 3rd to last in goals scored ? Yet the lines haven't changed in months. Time to switch it up.

Sorry, but I just don't see Wang as innocent and blameless as the article makes it sound. If (when) this team moves, I will curse Charles Wang just as loudly as ABLI and the politicians.

Look you can only blame the players for so long...IMO again and again its poor planning from the coaches....you dont go and beat teams like Det and PHI and the next game flop to teams like ANA and CAR. I am sick of playing to the other teams level!!! We need an identity to play to every game!! If we can get up for DET, then we play DET EVERY FN GAME!!!!! Drop the charity cases! Add some speed and toughness! and find a half-way intelligent brain to coach and motivate our players!!
