I am mad because I see systematic, predictable mistakes time and time again. It is done by young and old. If it was a case of MAB looking lost and Read invisible (both true), then thats understandable. But when I see Briere flinch slightly and not get in the way of Z's slapper (goal # 4), or Hartnell stand around, or Roo trying to make slick passes in his own zone, I see problems that have little to do with youth. I see a team that is not willing to do that extra, dirty bit.

On another note, I think Malkin has just announced to Roo, Stamkos, Kessel and company that they are not getting the Hart this year.

Do not correct the spelling and grammar of other posters. Their errors may make you question how much credence to give their opinions, that’s up to you, but correcting their lapses is rude and trollish.

to be honest i think we got spoiled with these rookies and team over achieved alittle bit... just add a depth dman and try to go for it next year i thought this year would be 6th 7th seed to be honest
- Slammed81

I thought so too in the beginning of the year 5th-8th in conference and that was thinking we'd have Pronger healthy and a consistent Bryzgalov. So, they are really playing a little better than expected.

We were spoiled with how the rookies and team overall played in the beginning.

As I said a page or two back, they are due to break out of this. Jagr has been gripping the stick a bit for a few weeks but he is getting looks that will start going in soon. Going from history, Briere will turn it up any day now as well. They have 3 days to clean up this mess on the back end as far as these coverage breakdowns that leave someone wide open down low. They ain't going to be perfect, but they can improve. Maybe they do trade for a defensive vet. Hell, as much as I've knocked him, I'd even take Gill over MAB.

At least the team will get some much needed practice time this week. The ship has to be righted internally - and hopefully a few days of honing their execution will be an upwards step.

Gill is much better then MAB at this point blocks a ton of shots.. long reach might help out this d... rather get him and see what we can do in the summer

Okay, Coburn was doing so good there. He was right with Franzen and then he let him go.
- rockychocbill

I'm all for someone telling me how Coburn is supposed to cover two Red Wings around the net. It's a mini 2 on 1 and Coburn is hung out to dry.

I admire the delusion of those who think these are growing pains, its a young team etc. You have veteran forwards leave their checks time after time after time. In the last 90 seconds, Datsyuk, Franzen and Helm had that long shift in the Flyers zone. Darren Helm of all people leaves Hartnell staring disinterestedly as he blows by him and just launches into an uncontested shot from near the hash marks. I think Harts has the best +/- on our team. If these are growing pains, then I am afraid we are stuck in terminal childhood.
- PT21

The Flyers dressed 8 rookies tonight. It's hardly a delusion to think that this is a young team.

The veteran forwards may well simply be lacking in confidence and making dumb mistakes. When you're fighting the game in your head, one mistake can snowball and turn into three very quickly, especially against a team like Detroit, who now leads the NHL in points.

It's not like they blew a lead against the Blue Jackets, or have been losing to non playoff teams.

That would be idiotic. You don't make a trade just to make a trade.

Does bringing in a Hal Gill immediately make the forwards backcheck better? Does it keep MAB from taking a dumb penalty? Does it prevent Coburn from blowing coverage?

While a deal probably wouldn't hurt, unless the guys currently on the team now don't start playing better, it won't matter.

agree 100% but the thing which kinda of scares me is they havent won against a top tier team in a looong time.. but in saying that 8 rookies is alot so its understandable
