Down by a goal in the third, on the road and the Flyers send Fantasy Camp and Rinaldo out? #ShortenTheBenchLAva

He may not have been responsible for the (frank)up but he hardly showed good judgement when placed in it.

Coburn is not to blame there. I would of liked for him to stay on Franzen and allow the Bob to handle the shooter but there was nobody there and Coburn was trying to make a play. He was left out to dry.

Flyers have most PP goals in NHL? Wouldn't know it from the fanbase.
- Flyskippy

Clearly the result of so many fans yelling "Shoot!" at their home games. Makes a big difference. Surprised more teams haven't encouraged their fans to do the same.

Hell, maybe Schenn can move to defense and they can bump Couturier up to play with good players, and not Fantasy Camp, Shelley and Zac Attack and send MAB back to ADK
- Jsaquella

MAB will be an decent 5-6 at some point but it is evident that he is in over his head right now.

Blaming the goalie is easy. How many times in the last two games alone has someone scored with nobody within arms reach of the guy? If the goalie is so unbelievably bad, then play better defense and don't let guys get free shots every other shift.

Fair point and I don't think people are exonerating the D. I think we are all fed up with this play. We are fed up with the tap in goals and fed up with goals that he absolutely must save as an NHL goalie. It's a bad combination.

Don't disagree but I'm sure 7 games in 10 days has a little to do with that

totally agree with you.
Which is why I don't do a thing to this team at the deadline. I don't want to bring in a defenseman who could help out at the expense of a young player, when the goalie situation is as horrible as it is now. It would hurt real bad to give up a jvr/schenn/couts/read type player if they get bounced out of the first round.

The good news for you guys is despite the defensive struggles, your offense is great and has lifted you to a top record in the East.

Figure out the defense, just a little bit, and the sky is the limit.

I'm not even sold on him being a solid future 5 or 6. He did more than I expected from him, but he's making far too many mental mistakes. It's hard to judge when everyone is making the same mistakes, though.

I get that, but just seems like something I'd avoid, especially how the PK has killed them lately.

Ain't a soul who roots for the flyers who wouldn't like to see big two zero out there, but like Timmo said yesterday, that ain't the current reality.

I won't claim to play the same system as the Flyers but I know the system we play its my job as the center to rotate down and pick up the dman's positon on that play
- nastyflyergirl

Yep. The center probably should have been there to cover someone. But the big issue was still the lost battle along the wall after Timonen had tied up Datsuyk for the last 20 seconds or so of the PK. We win that battle and the whole play never develops. Poor defense by the forwards all the way around.

If he leaves his man then he should at least play the pass. And thats Lidstrom he is rushing to.

Nope thats not happening. You have to play with what you have. What are the other options: Walker, Bartulis, Lilja, pick a name...

Bingo. Team defense is horrid - bad positioning, bad awareness, bad puck support when we do get possession.

Be cause he was left alone to deal with two players while his defense partner was up along the circle and no other forward dropped down to help out
- nastyflyergirl

Had to step away for dinner........

Yes, I saw that, but he should have stayed with Franzen. Let Bob take the shooter. By leaving Franzen he put himself in no man's land and left Bob with two guys to worry about instead of one.
