Agreed. Guys like Meszy and Coburn are big enough and physical enough to be much better at doing just that.
- PLindbergh31

Coburn did a nice job protecting that open net. He got his stick out there so the Detroit player didnt get an easy wrap around.

That's why I'm not against moving pieces on the defense. I have noted that they have to do the heavy lifting because instead of playing with veteran partners, they have to lug Bourdon or Gus, but at the same time, you have to still play solid hockey.

jagr looks like he'll never score another goal ever.
- hammarby31

I think he's pressing. Even a guy with his experience is not immune to gripping the stick too tight during a slump. He's trying to do too much with the stickhandling as well, instead of just making the smart play.

Coburn is an enigma at times, he's a tremendous skater for a big man, and at times he looks like a first pairing d-man. And other times he does things that just make you shake your head.

He struggles with consistency.

that's exactly what i meant. he's hanging on to the puck too long, looking for extra plays. and he's not putting the puck where he wants to.

God I hate that call. If you can't hang on to your stick, go the hell home. Just a stupid, stupid rule.

That's Meszaros and Carle's biggest problem, too. Therein lies the issue.

I really despise offense zone penalties. I hate all penalties that don't prevent scoring chances.
