Carle was there first and let Bert park there too. Not much effort to move him.

Zero effort. Although any type of effort would have likely been futile.

I think Kronwall is one of the dirtiest D men in league. His devastating hits are actually legal but people that actually play hockey and know the game know that his biggest hits are pretty dirty (even though they're considered clean).

Kronwall is a stud. I think he's vastly underrated.

I dont think it was a dumb point at all. He made 17 saves. Whoop tee (frank)ing doo.

Has it really been that bad this season? Are we really getting excited over a 17 save shut-out?

Now don't misunderstand, I'm not faulting Bryz for that game. You can't blame a goalie who is perfect in regulation when your team has 40+ shots and can't burry one goal.

But lets be real now. We signed Bryzgalov to be THE guy here. He has yet to establish himself as THE guy. 17 saves isn't anything to get excited over.

its not just about quantity, its quality and he had yo make a few outstanding saves

Cant save what you cant see. Bob was leaning left and the puck beat him opposite side. Tough save to make there with the screen.
- stveshdy

Yeah. He didn't react until it was past him. He had no chance.

Don't think it would have mattered. Carle's not moving a guy that big even if he tried.
- Jsaquella

The point isn't always to try and move the guy to the corner. It's to distract the guy from getting a clear view of the oncoming shot and also to tie his stick up to prevent a deflection. Our D do not do either of these very well.

I don't think he's underrated at all. I just think the hits he makes when he steps up and crushes wingers on the breakout are dirty, ref the hit on Havlat from a few years ago and similar ones.

It seems like the defense for you guys is having a rough time in front. In Saturdays game almost every goal for the Rangers was left open in the crease.

Its not even a skill thing, they dont seem to make the effort at all.

- Rags2Riches

That's part of the issue, but the team defense as a whole has been prone to breakdowns. There's been times the defensemen were hung out to dry by the forwards and were faced with no good decisions in terms of coverage and as a result they end up looking bad....that said, the games where the Flyers have struggled lately(Rangers and Devils), the defensemen have looked really poor.

I don't think he's dirty at all. A few of his hits in the past were borderline, but not in a cheap way. More like the Scott Stevens style of hitting that is now illegal. Also, since the rules have changed he seems to have adapted. I like his game, and I'd love to see him on the Flyers' blue line (not that it'll ever happen).

No, they don't, but on Detroit's goal, Bertuzzi didn't deflect it. He simply screened Bob.

He isn't as scary looking as Dave Lewis, so that is an improvement.

The rangers do a great job of owning the net in both zones.

Lucky. They actually awarded him the goal and then changed it back that's how close it looked. My point is why the (frank) stand 1-2-3 feet from the guy in the first place? What possible good are you going to do out there? Get a stick on it and deflect it into your own net? If you're not gonna go down and sacrifice your head like Laperierre then you might as well look like you're actually doing something and tie the guy up in front. Your screening him either way.

I don't disagree. It bugs me more when Meszaros and Coburn, the guys with exception size, don't even bother to do it.

So it would seem. I don't think either of those is correct. Rinaldo had more than four hits all on his own.
