They will come down, if he plays better certainly. But getting them to where they were expected to be, is going to be very difficult.
- MJL

What exactly were they expected to be? Personally I was looking for something like 2.4 gaa and .925.

Of the 16 teams who currently occupy playoff spots, the Flyers are the only team who was lost more games at home than they have won.

That has to change. Makes no sense how there is zero home ice advantage.

Maybe start staying in a hotel the night before a home game, and having a curfew could be possible solutions.

So would you rather the Flyers fall down in the standings to the 5-8th spot so they can start the series on the road?

I dont think it was a dumb point at all. He made 17 saves. Whoop tee (frank)ing doo.

Has it really been that bad this season? Are we really getting excited over a 17 save shut-out?

Now don't misunderstand, I'm not faulting Bryz for that game. You can't blame a goalie who is perfect in regulation when your team has 40+ shots and can't burry one goal.

But lets be real now. We signed Bryzgalov to be THE guy here. He has yet to establish himself as THE guy. 17 saves isn't anything to get excited over.

- mochoson

It doesn't matter that he " only" made 17 saves. 4 or 5 were very good scoring chances . A couple were just he and the forward after the d broke down. Now if he lets in just 1, the flyers walk away with 0 pts. He's been playing very well lately and people still cant give him credit. By the way Marty Broduer has made a career out of posting shutouts by "only" making 17 saves

I think the # 6 seed against the Southeast Division winner is the best case scenario. #7, or #8 means Boston, or NYR and a first round exit. #4 or # 5 means Pittsburgh or NJ most likely.

Bruce Garrioch just put out a story on NHL GM's looking for a proposed one-time amnesty buy-out as part of the next CBA:
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam.../2012/02/11/19369046.html

Assuming the exemption can only be exercised on a single contract, I'm wondering who the Flyers would most likely look to take off the books. I think most people's immediate assumption would be to use the amnesty to get out from under Pronger or Bryzgalov's deals, but I for one think it would be better if used on Briere, who still has 3-years left on his monster deal and has already been supplanted by Giroux as the straw that stirs the drink, and looking forward, Schenn, Read and Couturier could all use the extra icetime, especially on the PP.

Any opinions?

- Tomahawk

It certainly is a tough question. I guess Pronger can always be LTIR and the Flyers can be 10% over the cap during summer. Plus, as someone stated before, it is possible that Pronger could be traded (if he agrees- knowing he won't play again) to a team that needs to be cap compliant because the last few years of his deal aren't much in salary.

The good thing is that we would probably get a better idea about Bryzgalov. Maybe if the Flyers went with a more defensive-minded coach, he would be ok especially after a year or so in Eastern Conference.

So, right now, I'd have to say Briere. I like what he has done for us in the playoffs but with the depth at center (as long as they don't trade Couturier or Schenn), I think getting rid of that salary would be the best move

I rewatched the game from yesterday. It looks like Voracek took a nasty hit. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a concussion

Jake could use a game or two off to recharge but sure hope he is back soon. He has so much talent but statistically you would never know it, at least in the goal department.

Voracek needs to be less of a perimeter player and get to the dangerous areas of the ice, to use that talent to better use.

It was reported an upper body injury but that being said he was on the plane to Detroit. I guess it depends on how he feels today.

If it was a concussion, he wouldn't have flown to Detroit.
