There's a lot of factors. I would agree with coaching being an issue, because Laviolette has had me scratching my head with some of the matchups he's gotten at home, when he has last change.

But it is more than that-look at the screen shot when it's 2-2. Kimmo Timonen is in no man's land and there's two Rangers in Bob's crease. That's not coaching, it's not rookies and it's not good fundamentals. We can cut Timonen some slack, but that's a bad play.

Kimmo struggled today for sure. He got caught forechecking on the PK as well as not having sound d-zone coverage. He did have a lot to say after the game, most of which I didn't agree with. I don't think it's a lack of effort. I think it's becoming frustrated too easily and losing discipline.

I agree wholeheartedly. They didn't get outworked, if anything, they got to running around doing too much.

The fans have a right to vent. 7 straight to the rangers is bullpoop. I don't care what the circumstances are. Lava having no answers is basically saying the players aren't good enough to execute against the rangers. Well where does that leave us? Who knows. Don't think a suter can solve these issues. At least the rangers had dmen a plenty in their pipeline a couple years ago. And who is going to give us our McDonough for our Briere/Gomez?

Yup. The even strength play was significantly in favor of the Flyers today until the wheels came off in the third period. This game was absolutely lost on special teams.

In sports sometimes there is no answer it just happens that way.

That 4th goal, right after the successful PK killed them. After that, the Rangers weren't really pressing the issue.

our so called left wing lock system will never work against the rangers, the rags figured it out and have the proper personnell to maximize their potential for scoring chances.

the rangers use no fore-check whatsover, they sit back let us dump and swing the puck right out.

our d is becoming more and more of a joke, as much as i love weber and want him getting him right now will not put us over the top.

i say just ride the season out and reload for next season.

Sad thing is the Rags PP had been bad lately. The Flyers took too many penalties and played wreckless at times.

Agreed. Hopefully Holmgren realizes there is no quick fix for this year. If the Flyers struggle tomorrow night, I can see him getting a little panicked, and trying to band-aid a mortal wound. I have no issues with a solid hockey trade, but rentals aren't the way to go this year.

If he goes to Boston or New York he will be a Flyers killer for the next decade.

I watch a bunch of Rags games, and their PP has been dreadful. I guess it was due to explode. Thing is they didn't have to work for any of their 3 PP goals. Two tap ins, and an uncontested deflection. It is frustrating no question, but the Flyers place in the standings without Pronger, and numerous other injuries is still pretty impressive.

I don't mind grabbing a Gill or Pahlsson, presuming that neither costs more than a middle round pick or middling prospect. No harm in trying to solidify in case they get some breaks or suddenly start clicking and manage to make a deep run.

At the same time, if guys already here don't step up and perform better, It won't matter who they bring in. I like the young talent they have, I want it to be nurtured and to grow here.

If they could get a veteran like Gill for dirt cheap (4th, 5th, 6th...) that would be the only deal I would do. If Homer can find another defenseman that isnt a rental and be here after this season also that would be good to.

I just dont think whoever they add is going to make this defense become legit.
