there are a few reasons why Parise for Nash makes no sense. The main reason is; the Devils are looking to trade Parise because they wont be able to sing him, they are a cap team. does trading for a guy who is signed long term for big numbers even make sense at all here? Only if its Nash for Kovalchuk.

Feel free to suggest that I don't "get it" (...whatever that means). But answer me this: The biggest reason people see Parise not signing with the Devils is purely financial. They recently declared bankruptcy and are rumoured to not be able to offer the salary Parise will command, especially after forking over so much to Kovalchuck.

So, why, why, why, why, why......would New Jersey take on a player of Nash's contract, at 7.8 million, when they have to chance to negotiate a contract that may suit their cap and financial situation better

Not to mention Parise has 48 points in 54 games compared to Nash's 36, and depsite Parise's injury last year, has generally been a very durable player and played almost 200 less games then Nash. So more likely to last over many years to come.

So, tell me I don't 'get it'....but it's my job to tell you why I think you're wrong hahah. How much fun would it be if everyone agreed with you?? None at all.

I think there is a better chance Parise signs to play for Dinamo Riga in the off season than re-upping with Columbus, if this happens. Makes little sense.

first of all the devils arent bankrupt, and you cant declare bankruptcy in the NHL till after the SCF

the forbes article a few months ago was based on the NY Post who cant get their own story straight and that story has been refuted and they dont even have the information

if the devils are in such dire straights they would be unloading salary, they have added to their payroll on 3 different occasions so far this season, foster, ponikarovsky, among others

the devils debt comes from building their own arena with no help from others

and no one other than JVB and the ones interested in the actual financials knows what it is like, it could just be JVB being stubborn over newark and not paying them due to the fact the city hasnt kept their side of the "promises" made
