If they don't get any other D men next year, then I'd say yes, he is on the 2nd pair. But I would think they would make another move for the defense.
- MJL

Agreed again. But hypothetically speaking, if Carle is not in the mix, and Schenn is on the 2nd pairing, who is he playing with iyo? At least to start the season.

should be Hitch
- Crimsoninja

Hitch wouldn't be a bad choice. He seems to be having a blast coaching that St. Louis team. I think being Commissioner would cut into his Civil War reenactment time.

There was some chatter a while back (always will be I suppose) about Gretzky taking over at some point down the line. I don't see that happening personally.

I think if we trade for Schenn, Carle is staying. If we trade for Johnson and Schenn, then Carle leaves. So I'll do it 3 ways... Just my opinion for fun.

Option 1:

Carle-Schenn
Timonen-Coburn
Gus-Meszaros

Option 2:
Timonen-Coburn
Gus-Schenn
MAB-Meszaros

Option 3:
Timonen-Coburn
Johnson-Schenn
Gus-Meszaros

Neither do I. Gretzky has money to burn, he doesn't need the headaches and the long hours.

If were dealing with just who is on the team now, Meszaros.

I gotta be honest, if you were to have told me the player having the best year after leaving the Flyers last season was Versteeg I would have said no way

Versteeg 51GP 20-25-45 +5
Richards 47 GP 14-13-27 0
Carter 33 12-7-19 -9
Leino 42 4-11-15 -5
Carcillo 28 2-9-11 +10
Powe 54 4-5-9 -12

Richards only having 13 assists at this point is shocking. But LA is just a bad team offensively.

I was really impressed with both Bourdon and Gussy's games last night. Especially Bourdon made some really good decisions in his own end with pressure on and Flyers forwards not back to support... and Gus has got that Timmonen'esque ability to carry the puck through the neutral zone with flair...

It sucks coming to the realization at this point in the season that the team is probably still a year or two away from 'really' contending for a cup (with all the injuries and rookies filling key roles) - but watching the young guys out there with the game on the line (Coots winning that D-zone draw with a less than 3 mins left comes to mind last night) - they have a great core of youth and I think they can be really good... AND once you get to the post season - who knows what can happen!

Go Flyers!

I think they vastly overpaid and I didn't want him re-signed for more than 3 but I also realize this is one year and he can very well bounce back next year as can Carter and Richards. I have to admit I am vrty surprised Richards hasn't faired better. I expected him to do very well this year.

Bryz woke up yesterday with the Hershey squirts, maybe. 'Stomach flu'. And it can be quick (no pun) or last a few days.

Versteeg has had a nice season. He was obviously damaged goods when the Flyers traded for him. The other guys have done absolutely nothing. Carcillo was playing pretty well before he lost his mind, and his acl.

So your pairings would look like this then, correct?

Timonen-Coburn
Schenn-Meszaros
MAB-Gus

And if that is correct, and you think the Flyers would still want to add another piece, where would the additional piece slot in?

It would certainly help to get some goal scoring talent there. Hard to get assists when the entire team can't finish.

There aren't any distractions out there. Nothing to focus on besides hockey. I'm shocked he is struggling the way he is.

Reminds me of how lucky the Flyers got in not resigning Biron to be their starting goalie at, i think it was, 4 mill a year because Biron's agent thought he was worth more on the open market. Oops.

It would all change depending on who was brought in. I can't answer tha question definitively. I really don't want to see both Gustafsson and Bourdon both in the lineup.
