It's a much better idea and would allow for more roster flexibility/versatility!
NHL fans would like trade deadline day a lot more I suspect... - Max to the House

Doesn't the union hate when players do that? - snowstorm077
Fvck the union and what they want.
The union in any sport is about the top 1% and their money. They could careless about the other 99%.
See the lockout that took out the 04/05 season. |

Because people just see it as the rich getting richer. I've always saw as teams get to keep their players. Briere, Drury, Dumont, McKee, and Campbell all might've been re-signed. |

I wouldn't be eagerly pushing for an extension for Vanek.
Don't get me wrong he's been good for Buffalo but he disappears too often and is starting to get injured quite a bit. I suppose it depends on the price. I don't think he is worth 7 million/per.
Malkin is another story. - Max to the House
I just don't think Vanek is worth 7+ a year...
If Vanek was extended and brought down to like 6.25 or amazing would be for Pominville and Vanek to have extensions similiar in money.. |

I mean just think about Nashville and the situation they are in right now. That is a team that definitely needs and the fans deserve to have some continuity with their stars. |

That's fair...I just think it would allow teams to restructure their rosters and make for a better product. Currently it is difficult to alter the landscape of any organization especially if a given team is hampered by even one or two poor contracts. |

That's a much more reasonable figure for Vanek. If he were making that now the team would better off, especially when they are/have been up against the cap. |

Yeah I'm not worried about Fitzpatrick's deal whatsoever!
I just worry about Spiller losing confidence going back to the bench. He really came into his own this season. He is the most dynamic player on the roster IMO. - Max to the House
Until we draft Courtney Upshaw or Melvin Ingram in the draft.... But offensivley he and Stevie are both pretty dynamic... Considering SJ stays.... My dream would be to Sign Vincent Jackson and Stevie.... Fitz would have alot of fun... |

Vanek's making 6.4 this year, His cap hit is for 7.1. His contract was dictated because of Larry and Darcy saying "we'll match any offer". IMO that took his contract from a 6yr 39mil deal to a 7 yr 49 mil deal(1st 2yrs with a 5mil bonus). |

Agreed.
Also with restructuring Millers contract would look like a 8yr 39.25 mil deal or 4.91 mil cap hit.
I think myself and several others would blame Miller less. |

Of course, it's more wiggle room under the cap, which on its own is already outpacing what many teams can keep up with. We'd have lost those guys anyway too, in all likelihood, because the other teams would have restructured contracts to make room for them. |

Sad that looks like #Mets leaving Binghamton. Been affiliated since '92. Buffalo could kick out Mets too. May be lot of movement next winter |

Well it's not like the Mets have any quality talent they've sent to Buffalo. |

They have to spend to the cap. Pay Stevie and bring in Vincent Jackson. Pay them both. They have the cash to burn. |

To be honest, was that really a problem last year? I thought they did OK. They need defensive help like no other. |
