Heard him on the radio last week and he claimed the touchdown celebrations are a thing of the past now.

Actions are louder than words, but if he is being sincere, that's a big step.

If they don't re-sign Stevie and Fred Jackson that speaks pretty loud to the rest of the league and any potential free agent's.

We all shall see. IMO the team has turned the corner from being a laughing stock to being a solid, competitive team. They are a few players short from a solid 10-11 win team.

I think Fitz keeps them from being a contender.

I by no means think he is a franchise QB but you have to give him credit:

Like I said the Owner of the drycleaners the bills use for their jerseys is a regular at the bar. He said they were sewing kevlar in his jersey for much of the season.

I must have missed that post. I wonder if the NFL would get pissed off about him not coming clean about the ribs. They can say all they want about not wanting anything to do with the gambling, but why else do they give out mandated super specific injury information in a contact sport?

I'm stuck in the 70's on this latest one, feels like I am stuck in quick sand. Havent had time to play that or watch hockey.

They have to lock up Johnson as well, even if he is a buffoon. Bad teams can't be selective with their talent, until they acquire a plethora of talent.
- Gunner Staal

Agreed on Johnson although I don't know signing Jackson is the right move long term. I truly love Jackson although he is older and Spiller is coming into his own. If you get something for Jackson and let Spiller play you are probably better off long term.
That may allow you to go out and get a nice FA such as Williams which would solidify the DL.
I am torn because I think his story is great and he's been a class act for the organization.

Yeah but football contracts arent worth the paper you print them on. Give him some guaranteed money upfront but give yourself roster flexibility. Even Fitzpatrick's contract isnt as damning as it looks on the surface, in fact they can get out of it easily.

It's really a 2yr 28mil deal, AKA a stop gap contract.

So I got an honest question...

Is it worth the extra money to come see the Sabres play at home in Buffalo..

or is it safe to see them play in like say Chicago which is only a few hour drive from me..

(Keep in mind... I have never been to a Sabre game... nor have I ever been to an NHL game)

- MillerTime1130

I drive 7 hours from Maryland to Buffalo for games. I hit 4-6 games per season. Never regretted one and the last in-season victory that I attended was against the Blue Jackets in December '10 on the heels of that monster snow that shut down the Thruway.

I really think the NHL should look into having contract extentions like the NFL. Keep them guaranteed but allow in season extentions to be done the same way along with contract retructuring.

I agree. If the Penguins want to extend Malkin right now, they should be able to, likewise Vanek/Buffalo etc... You shouldn't have to wait until their contract year. This would encourage continuity and name recognition in some of the non hockey markets.

Yeah I'm not worried about Fitzpatrick's deal whatsoever!
I just worry about Spiller losing confidence going back to the bench. He really came into his own this season. He is the most dynamic player on the roster IMO.

And get tham at a lower cap hit.

IE: resigning a player long term coming off a rookie deal like Myers.

Myers was signed for 3 yrs at 1.3per

New deal is 7yrs at 5.5per.

Allowing restructuring in the NHL would've made it a 10yr 42.4mil contract or 4.24 per instead of 5.5.

Players still get their money.

Teams get cap flexibility.

I wouldn't be eagerly pushing for an extension for Vanek.
Don't get me wrong he's been good for Buffalo but he disappears too often and is starting to get injured quite a bit. I suppose it depends on the price. I don't think he is worth 7 million/per.
Malkin is another story.

Players who want to win could also restructure to take less in their new deals.

It's a much better idea and would allow for more roster flexibility/versatility!

NHL fans would like trade deadline day a lot more I suspect...

It's an idea and they mentioned that before but I didn't see it working much. I can't even really think of a recent tandem that played well together at the same time. Maybe just slipping my mind.

Bingo.

The CBA and the cap need some re-tooling.
