Actually, I'm one of the most neutral people you'll ever meet. Ask Ek, or anyone who reads my stuff. I'm not a HOMER at all, and I'm sure all my readers will attest to that fact.

hehe we love you Shaune, but Ek might not have a lot of credibility..

Please accept my apologies then and I take back the koolaid comments. Kipper will be 35 this year but I think he has a few more good years in him. It woud be nice to start breaking in Irving so that he is ready to take over and be a star when Kipper retires. I do not like people suggesting trading Kipper and personally I would like to see him retire a Flame.

I don't think Shaune was ever implying that all 4 teams would want to trade goalies with us... just that if you had the option of putting any of those 5 guys in your net for 1 game, you'd be dumb not to choose Kipper right now.

That is so true,

EK and all his E3 as in Carter to Flames

Gonna cost a lot, Bartschi, Backlund and Cammalleri

Hopefully not all three!

I was just saying that if the Coyotes had a choice of Smith or Kipper for tonights game is that they would probably choose Smith.
He has been as sensational for them as Kipper has been for us. Just ask the Red Wings what they think of Smith.

I think Flames fans would rather see the team take a shot a Roy over Carter.

Yes please. Especially with Cammy on the second line. It would be great to have a guy centering him that could set up that one timer.

Roy is a better playmaker than Carter as Carter is one dimensional, shoot and shoot wide! Roy would be better for Cammy for sure and would cost half as much.

Not sure anyone wants Carter's long term nightmare.

I don't think anyone's disparaging those other guys, but when Kipper's playing at the top of his game he's in a class above them all. Right now Kipper looks like the Vezina winner again. He's playing that well... If you need to win 1 game right now, you take Kipper over almost anyone in the league.
- jtommyt

And that's why he should be playing tonight...

I don't think Carter's contract will ever be a nightmare... unless he pulls a Stajan and completely disappears that is... I'm just not sure he's a great fit for this team.

That being said, his best season ever was when he was playing with Lupul and Hartnell... Cammy and Glencross could be pretty damn similar...

I think he might be a little tired after last night... He had to work hard for those 2 points...

Irving's been pretty good. Hopefully he gets some offensive support.

Not a freaking chance. Not a chance that they if the hypothetical question was asked, the 'Yotes would be insane not to take Kipper over Smith.

Phoenix would be in 4th if they had Kipper and the Flyers, oh the Flyers would win the Cup with Kipper.

I honestly don't know... All of our top players have NMC or NTC... Who would waive to go to Columbus?

Butler, Comeau, and a 1st?

Mike Smith: 2.43 GAA .923 S%

Backstrom: 2.32 GAA .925 S%

Giggy: 2.09 GAA .923 S%

Kipper: 2.30 GAA .920 S%

Th difference in goaltending hasn't been that far off for any of these guys.

wow, you have access to NHL.com, good for you!

Try watching the games and tell me Kipper is not better than all those guys. They are all good goalies, but Kipper is stealing points for the Flames this year

Wow, you watch the Flames play. Awesome!

Given the numbers, I think it's very possible those teams feel their goalie is giving their team a chance to win every night. And given the quality of those teams, I think it's safe to say their goalie is their best player on many nights as well.

My point is: I don't know that his play alone will be enough for the Flames to beat out those other bunch of teams for the playoffs given the numbers suggest everybody is pretty even. Naturally, we'll have to see how it plays out.

You definitely have to take into consideration who is playing in front of a goalie too. If we could actually score you would see us a lot higher in the charts. Kipper is hoisting us on his shoulders and carrying the team.

Do you think Pekka Rinne is great? Yes he is amazing, but would he be doing nearly as well as he is without the two best defense men in the league? No definitely not. Kipper has done what he has done missing Gio for a good chunk of the season and minus Regher and with Buttler as a part of the top two pairing. Karlsson was playing disappointingly and then was injured. Kipper has also played all but 6 games this season so give credit where credit is due.

Scoot you are too loyal a flames fan to actually comment on any other team's goaltending. You are a homer and that has access to nhl.com, whoopee

Also Shaune, why does your blog have two pages and Bill Meltzer about 60 or more every day?? Boring and too much koolaid for both you too

Koolaid man, bad management then I would say. Why trade away your best dman, Regher has nothing to do with this conversation. No more excuses, thank you. You should give credit where it is do and Mike Smith deserves it. So does Kipper.
