My heart sank when you answered your own question...Are we mathematically eliminated yet? "In my mind yes." Probably right that, was a tough loss, so it was 3-2. We didn't get a puck in their net till the final minutes of the game. Why do we win the games we shouldn't and lose the games we should win? Blah!

Even old fans like my dad (80) who didn't even remember the Isles exist are talking about the Islanders.

Doesn't Weight handle the PP? I mean we are 6th in the league. Not saying that qualifies him to be a HC but he obviously has some idea what he's doing.

That is my point right there. I know we like to rush our players without giving them any experience at a lower level, but we don't have to do it with coaches too

Another issue is inexperience from the top down to the bottom. An inexperienced owner who hired an inexperienced GM who hires an inexperienced coach who coaches inexperienced, developing players. Where is the expertise and hockey knowledge? It'd be nice to have a coach that has a track record of actually developing players at some level to handle our rebuild in its most critical years, no?

Are we seriously going to examine the playoff possibilities after each and every game? How about let's see where they are a couple days before the trade deadline and then see what happens. The team as constructed right now is not built to win 5+ games in a row IMO.

The reason I brought up the whole playoffs thing is we are talking about Snow not entertaining the offers for Nabby. Islanders should entertain every friggin thing anyone is offering them.. as I said the other day. How do you think the Mets feel right now about not trading Reyes? The odds of this team making the playoffs.. I'll say it b/c no one else will. It ain't happening.. I hope u all throw it in my face .. but it isn't going to happen.

Get what u can for the assets that will NOT be here next year.

I think Garth will see what's out there but if the team is somewhat realistically in it, why would he trade him? And since right now they are (even though not likely to happen) still in it, he can't come out and say I'll trade anyone not named Tavares. Wouldn't be a smart thing to do. The fan base is skeptical enough about this team so why add more fuel to the fire?

I agree with you, I just don't thin Weight would be the worst choice based on what we have seen from him. No "real" head coach is going to come here based on the stability of the franchise as it is right now. I think if their was a plan on where this team will be after 2015. As someone on here if not multiple people have said, nothing is going to change until their is some kind of knowing.

in my opinion the reason we have all these dud "Veterans" is b/c of Doug Weight. Be careful what u wish for on that front.

You haven't seen Nino throw or fight off any checks? You don't notice any improvement in his skating from the beginning of the year?
- UIF

I will grant u that point.. .I am just frustrated with his lack of touch. We have enough Brick hands in this organization. I thought we finally had our sniper. (I think part of the reason I am shtting on him is hoping u will all get to shove it up my keeeester next week).

Nite Isle, you have never been more RIGHT in your life.

To me, Rolston is the only dud and he was brought here just for cap space and to get Hunter off the books for next year. The only other dud would be everyone's favorite whipping boy Pandolfo. While there is no "proof" that he had any influence on his signing, there's also no proof for the opposite.

#Isles D Travis Hamonic (broken nose) on hand to watch his mates practice today... Says he's 3-4 days away from resuming skating.

Outside of Hall & Seguin, there are only 3 other guys from that draft that have played an NHL game. Not like we passed on the next best thing.

I wanted skinner going in... so I might just be pissed for that reason and will compare him to Jeff forever.. sorry.

While Skinner is obviously a very good player, don't you think we have enough undersized players already?

I wanted Skinner b/c he scored 50 goals in 60 games right before the draft and had 20 goals in 20 playoff games too. He had "sniper" written all over him. I don't care if he is the size of Mugsie Boges out there.. if he can score I want the guy.

Well if the deadline passes and he did not sign an extension and is still an Islander.. Garth is an idiot.

Not saying I disagree with you, but regardless of opinion, everyone might as well start preparing now because he's more than likely not going to trade him.

If Snow would do something to increase our chances of winning. I wouldnt be so pessimistic. Or as I call it. Realistic about our chances of obtaining a PO spot. But he'll continue to spill the nonsense that this team is capable of reaching the PO's as it is. With the current staff, mounting injuries and with call ups like Reese Wallace and Ness.

After thinking it over. Riding Nabby in search of a unobtainable (nearly impossible) goal. Rather then entertaining offers from other teams. (Snow has publicly stated this) At a time when his value is as high as it will ever be. In my opinion. Shows how Unbelievably naive & inexperienced Snow is when it comes to building a team outside of the Draft and Waiver route.

We have talented Goalies in the system. We are not going to make the PO's this yr. Nabby could bring a #2 rd pick in this yrs draft that could be used as part of a package or be used to obtain another 1st rd pick in what is considered a very good draft yr.

Nabby has been good. Isnt that what we had hoped for? Good enough to trade him for a respectable return. He is not our future.

He is not going to carry us to a PO spot but he can do exactly what we expected him to do. Play well enough to bring something of value to the Isles via a trade.

UIF, I did look at the upcoming schedule. It would be tough enough if we were healthy and had everyone clicking. But realistically as we stand now.IF we play as well as we can. At very best. I could see us winning 12 - 14 games out of the 29 remaining. Which pretty much keeps us in the same spot we are now. The NHL version of a 500 record.

i would take whatever garth says with a grain of salt, maybe even 2 grains. he isnt going to say "we are shopping him, who wants him? come and get him!!"

hes well aware that wtvr is said will be heard by all GMs; i assume his thinking is, this guy is HOT and playing outstandingly. if someone wants him they are gonna have to come to me and "pry" him away from me. the thinking being that the potential requesting GM will say to himself, garth really likes this guy, not gonna be able to lowball him, im gonna have to ante up a little bit--- its all gamesmanship at this point....id be shocked if nabby is on this team after the deadline. flat out shocked.

garth is playing the game right now

The gillies reference was a joke to show that even a goon can score once in a while. NINO HAS TO FKEN START SCORING!! STOP BABYING HIM AND GIVING HIM A PASS. he has had PP time and has had a lot of very good oportunities. Where are these wonderful hands we heard about? Where is the "he's a finisher"... has a nose for the net?? Hey Nino.. you were a top 5 pick and they gave u an extra year in juniors to develope. Start fken scoring!!!
- niteislander

how old are you??

hes 19.....where were you when you were 19?

give the kid a chance to adapt to the nhl....AND i have an INCREDIBLY hard time getting on him when he isnt in a position to score IE 4th line...if he were top 2 lines, id agree, he needs to score some, 4th line? thats not his role.... come next year when he knows how to throw the body around and be a little tough AND he can score, thats when youll be eating your words

And chances are once the team is officially out of it they will tinker with the lines more to see where some players are at. Then Nino will get some sort of chance.
