Agreed with everything since I comment while back about not needing D because of prospects the Oilers got coming but I did say we need more Forwards RW specifically...

Line 1= Taylor Hall - Ganger - Jordan Eberle

Line 2= PRV - Nudge - Linus Omark (maybe)

Line 3= Ben Eager or Hartikainen - Lander - (trade)RW

Line 4= Ryan Jones - Pitlick - (trade)RW

- AlEx_OiL

Omark is top 6 again? The same Omark who was demoted to the AHL and brings nothing to the table but smoke and mirrors?

I was dreading when his ankle would heal up because all the Schremp 2.0 Fanboys would be back slotting him into the first line and claiming he's an easy replacement for Hemsky.

And that's still not a sure thing. If you count Matt Greene as a drafted success in 2002 (and I do), the last D-man the Oilers drafted before him to make an impact was Tom Poti in 1996. That's 6 years of shooting blanks when it comes to D-men.

And after Matt Greene? Petry and Peckham in 2006, 4 years later.

Sure, Stu is a genius and is way better than the Pendergast Group but you still need to be reasonable. The majority of kids who get drafted DO NOT make the NHL. Even less make a significant impact. Prospects, especially defensive ones, are not sure things and can't be counted on to make the jump. So to think that the Oilers are set back there because they will get one of Klefbom, Marincin, Gernat, etc. to make the jump is a little optimistic.

Not all will make it, let alone be an impact player, but you have to like the odds now. The Oilers have an AHL team, and they didn't always. OKC is a great place to properly develop quality players. I would be willing to lean on the side of optimism regarding our future blue line right now. I'd also be willing to bet that more than 2 of them will end up being regular D men in the NHL. Time will tell all however.

hey but didn't you see PRV Power move to the Net on Gagner second goal
- AlEx_OiL

(frank) he did it once in 500 times trade him while he has value... I hate writing young players off, but not everyone will turn out and the oilers need some grit in the top 6!!!

a) gagner was not plus two so i dunno how u think he beat the wings 2-0
b) the reason that gagner adn eberle are doing well if that the coaching staff is putting them in positions to succeed .by not playing them 20 mins a game. they get played on the powerplay and put on for offensive zone faceoffs .

true true but what if they trade him lest say to Detroit and he scores 30 plus goals next season, are you going to bend for every Oiler Fan that didn't want PRV to be trade it?

Why stop at Omark? the 6 players he has getting promotions (Omark/PRV/Pitlick/Eager/Hartikanen/Lander) have combined for a whopping 63 points this year... with the vast majority of those 63 coming in the AHL.

Why would you talk poop about Jones cloutier? What do you expect the guy to do with 4th line ice time? Only Petrell and Eager had less ice time. Renney needs to go. Really sick of the way he distributes the ice time.

Do not get what ur pt is... Belanger and Horcoff get pp time too... Don't see them generating or getting any pts... Silly post if u ask me... Gags eberle nuge and hall are the only ones carrying this team... They are leading by example - on the ice...

nothing...... whats wrong with a solid top 9 minus grit, and a defence that can't stop a beach ball?

Would love to see Horcoff bought out, but I think that's a season away.

It's lookin' like Grigorenko is in our future, which probably isn't a bad thing. Get a winger with size and our top 6 could be RNH, Hall, Ebs, Gags, Grigs, and mystery top 6 winger with size.

Not sure I think Oilers should still hang to PRV minimum 2 more seasons but he's got to have top 6 ice time and PP time...to early to give up to young.....

If we resign old, non hitting, injury prone and slow vets it will be 5-10 years and we will still be rebuilding...As they just take away ice time from players that need to learn and build on off experience...at least at this point fwd in the season...

Agree about PRV, he's still pretty young. Needs a good solid season or two in the AHL before he starts to reach his potential imo.
