Isn't it odd or coincidence that the Flyers ALWAYS seem to run into "hot" goaltenders?
- Flyer_Nation71

If you don't make life difficult for the goalie by getting traffic in front of him, you're going to make a lot of goalies look like Vezina candidates.

We did make up for it by being at the Keith Primeau 5 OT playoff game in Pittsburgh.

Although, that was rather exhausting to sit through. I don't even want to know how the players made it through.

I would have shot first and sent Roo out then Briere then maybe Schenn.

How roo was not one of the first two shooters is beyond me.

The Flyers were pressing hard last night, but they were holding their sticks a little too tight. Jagr made a lot of good plays, but seemed to fire too many hard passes that his teammates seemed to have trouble handling. That line needs to relax a bit, because they are creating opportunities, they just need to execute better. Same for a lot of players on the team.

Giroux and Read would've been the first two shooters if it were up to me.

I'd go Bryz as the 3rd. Maybe they are just uitilizing him incorrectly on the shootout.

You know, if you're not going to take off your uniform on off days, at least put a pic of Podein as your avatar.

I consider Giroux and Briere snipers. Giroux is just in a funk right now and Briere was in his first game back off a concussion. Jagr isn't the goal-scorer he was in his prime but it's awfully hard to say that the 11th all-time goal scorer in NHL history doesn't have sniping ability.

I just felt they got ZERO traffic in front of Nabokov.

And no disrespect meant to Simmonds who is having a really nice yr for the Flyers but seriously, what is with the choice for the shootout? Did we not see Schenn beat Lundqvist on a breakaway on a sweet move? and why save Giroux last? I hate that mentality

When Bryz can't stop anything in the SO what's the difference who the Flyers put out there?

That was a horrific game watching live last night. Good God.

It sucks cause I brought along a friend who is new to the city and new to the sport. Worst. Game. Ever.

- KGBflyers10

actually I disagree....the worse game ever was the clownshow last time against the Isles. I didn't think the Flyers played badly at all.

Claude Giroux on whether Nabokov was getting into their heads:

"Yeah, like I said we let him do whatever he wanted. He had the whole crease to himself and offensively we had a lot of chances. We were moving the puck in the D. We were aggressive. But in the end of the day we’ve got to find a way to beat the goalie."

The Flyers didnt put much traffic in front of Nabokov last night but they had plenty of great scoring chances and couldnt get it done. Nabokov made some really nice saves. Even when Bryzgalov throws a shutout the other goalies does the same, even in the gimmick. Cant catch a break.

how about still trying to put your best skilled guys out there anyway.....you know, just in case we want to try to score. as soon as simmonds came up I put my head down. I knew it was done. Lets save Giroux for last so he doesn't even get the opportunity. i believe in going with your best first. And you have Schenn, Jagr (I don't care if he doesn't like to do it), Read, Voracek, Couturtier who I'd pick before Simmonds. he scores most of his goals 5-10 feet in front of the net on rebounds and tips. for (frank) sake

meh, I thought the flyers had a few prime chances but overall their chances weren't all that. I sat there all night screaming about getting traffic in front

That makes the most sense. I have no problem with Briere in there as well but those should be your three shooters.

Giroux
Briere
Read

That would of been the shootout order to use. Im not going to get on Lavi bc his team came to play last night and they lost in the gimmick which they suck at since it started.
