That was a horrific game watching live last night. Good God.

It sucks cause I brought along a friend who is new to the city and new to the sport. Worst. Game. Ever.

w/o question, an element the flyers could use is a solid point shot that creates follow up chances...a guy who can get shots thru. that's another aspect of pronger's absence that stings.
- isaiah520

That's one thing Pronger was always very good at doing was getting a good hard shot through from the point. Definitely missed.

I am doing some pieces where I am revisiting some of the major recent trades in the league. The next two will involve the Flyers. The one I just posted involves the Flyers and the Carter trade. It is here for anybody that wants to take the time, if not thats OK too.

Carter trade:

Part III will be in a day or so highlighting the Richards trade.

That was the WORST game I have ever been too, I paid 20 bucks for my seats and I overpaid. From a hockey standpoint, it was a very frustrating game, the refs blew about 5-7 offsides calls where the flyers could have had an odd man rush. IMO there were too many missed chances lastnight, I saw 1 too many passes from every line and the d looked awful up until the end.

Dont even get me started with the pp

I thought it was a rather entertaining game.

I've been to bad games. A bad game is taking your future wife to her first game and have the team get lambasted 5-0 by Ottawa. It was Jean-Marc Pelletier's first and only game as a Philadelphia Flyer. They got shutout by Dusty Rhodes. DUSTY RHODES (!). I'll never forget the disappointment.

I thought it was Atlanta that did it vs. the Flyers?
- bradleyc4

Yep. I had it half right.

Seems like it works pretty well.

I knew that name sounded familiar, he played here in Rochester for a short while.

Now, now. He was the American Dream, the man of the hour, too sweet to be sour, the bull of the woods, the dude with the goods, winin' and dinin' with kings and queens after sleepin' in the alley and eatin' pork and beans.

We did make up for it by being at the Keith Primeau 5 OT playoff game in Pittsburgh.

Although, that was rather exhausting to sit through. I don't even want to know how the players made it through.

I remember watching that game. I believe Gary Thorne had the call with Clement. I have no idea how the players did it either. If I am correct ESPN said that players were eating bacon in between the periods.

It's a shame Bryz gets the loss after a nice bounce back game. Didn't face many shots, but sometimes that's more difficult. I'm not sure why the Flyers elected to shoot 2nd. I'm always in the belief that you'd want to shoot first and put more pressure on the other team if you score.

I remember hearing that the Flyers ordered pizza and were eating left over crust by the end of it. Boucher said after the game that his skates were squishing with sweat. YUK!

I would have shot first and sent Roo out then Briere then maybe Schenn.

How roo was not one of the first two shooters is beyond me.

I don't know how he picks his shooters. I don't like Simmonds on the shootout and I don't know if I would have sent out Briere first either. Giroux was chomping at the bit all game, so I would have liked to send him out first as well.

I am not sure IIRC, but the I think the Islanders are one of the best shootout teams over the past few years... oddly enough.

I was very happy w/Bryz last night in regulation. Standing tall and making stops while the d was breaking down and allowing odd man chances against early in the game is exactly what they need from him to give his teammates time to pull up their socks and right their game.

Yes, but his rendition of Floppy the Fish in the SO was something to be desired.

Bryz played solid. Ran into a hot tender and we didn't make life difficult for him.

Positive thought of the day.. Bryz's Sp% is now at .900!!! Yess..

Isn't it odd or coincidence that the Flyers ALWAYS seem to run into "hot" goaltenders?

It's a conspiracy. The players, coaches, GMs change, but the results stay the same. We're cursed!
