If anything...you have helped reaffirm the idea that Buff was dumb to give up on Mac so quickly. He is 11th on your depth chart for non-nhl players while the other guy (forgot his name already) doesn't even rank.
Leduc ranks 20th in the QMJHL for points but that league is the most notorious for pumping up players point totals and allows their NHL team fans to salivate over something that will never happen in the NHL in most cases.
Hockeys Futures ranks him as a 7.0D so he will probably be (at best) a 3rd pairing D-man. Now...who really wants a puck moving 3rd pairing D-man? Not many as they demand a higher salary and 3rd pairing D-men traditionally play with 3rd and 4th line players and 2nd pairing D on the PK.
He has little to no opportunity to succeed in the NHL according to the numbers...so Mac it is! |

Look dude... I am not saying Leduc > Mac... it is impossible to know right now anyway..
They traded him because they had just made a trade for I believe it was Raffi Torres.. and that trade was obviously not a home run either..
They did what they did.. mac is having a career revival in Toronto and good for him.. but he just didn't fit on the Sabres roster at that time..
Maybe they thought he was better than a 3rd liner and if he couldn't be on the 2nd anymore they would rather trade him and get something back..

One of the top pair of scoring forwards in the NHL disagree
Reimer has had better stats this year 5 on 5 (.940+ SP) and the PK is now perfect in 2012
Myers is not the best D-Man and Phaneuf agrees with me.
They only part that I can say I semi agree with is the last portion, but that could change very quickly with Gardiner and Franson developing. As it stands right now, the only player I would take out of the 3 you have given (and please understand that they would have to displace someone on the Leafs pairings right now) would be Erhoff.

You can really bash those prospects before they get a shot. I mean Datsyuk was drafted in the 6th round so you never know. |
