This.

He's the one guy who can have a shutout and still apparently be responsible for the loss.

How about Read in the shootout?

i am very sorry to hear this.

U and me both.

What gets me even more mad is people were going off once it went to ot.
The one little creep who made it to his seat at exactly 12:39 of the THIRD period kept yelling we want Bob every couple minutes. I really tried to bite my tongue but before Simmonds got to center ice for his turn in the gimmick I let out a loud "well Bob still doesn't have a shutout." he just got up in a huff and stormed out once Simmonds started skating.

My whole thing is Bryzgalov gives the Flyers a shutout through three periods. I shouldn't have to say anything else. Once that buzzer sounds the game should be over. We have too much talent to wind up in a 0-0 shootout with the freaking Islanders!

The real reason we lost is because Joe was at the game how dare he

The tickets were a Christmas Present actually then my brother and his date backed out at the last minute so my older two kids got to come, a great night despite a loss until I witnessed a fanbase turn on their goalie for pitching a shutout to get them a point. I think they would have been pointing the finger at the team if he just coughed one up in regulation for the hell of it.

Yes during the three stars of the game they booed him and I was livid and gave everyone booing him within earshot a piece of my mind. I'm sorry its not even open for debate- if you booed the guy your hockey IQ is less than my size 10 shoe.

The team has something just off with them. I don't now if they are forcing it too much or what. It definitely seems like they are trying to do too much in the offensive zone.

Defensively they made a few errors but Bryz was there. What the eff do people want from the guy? They did cheer him after every big save but then turn around and lay this loss at his feet is absurd!

- JoeRussomanno

That is disgraceful. Although when you consider these are the same idiots that yell "Crosby Sucks" all game long when we play the Pens, I suppose it's not all that surprising. Still, booing your goalie after he pitches a shutout is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of.

Yes 2dumb indeed. My whole thing is if bryz or any goalie pitches a shutout through regulation for the Flyers it should never get to a shootout with the Islanders. I don't care if lets in 5 shootout goals, you put the bad teams away so they don't have an opportunity to beat you in a gimmick.

Yea especially when this team went all of last year with no shutouts and now he put up two but the team doesn't win /facepalm.
I guess it just wasn't their night, but even though they put up 40 some shots, I still can't believe that total, I didn't feel like they were gonna score until the third period.

after the 16 hour work day i had to only come home and watch that game on the dvr was not very rewarding. the longer it went 0-0, the more i had a suspicion it would end that way and the flyers would predictably lose in the SO. their inability to win SO's is beyond ridiculous at this point. i can understand going with briere, although i wouldn't have picked him in my top 3, i have zero clue why he continues to go to simmonds. how do you not put schenn or giroux ahead of him? makes absolutely zero (frank)ing sense. zero. i'm not at all surprised nabakov ate them for lunch and got a bunch of good breaks to boot - he's beaten them every single game in his career except the one earlier this year on LI. i'm also not suprised that bryz finally turns in another shutout, after sunday's debacle no less, only to still lose the game. the guy can't catch a break.

i guess i had something to say.

Just curious as to your thoughts on my previous post about Bryz getting booed during the three stars of the game? I couldn't tell you who the other two were because he was third and when the booing erupted my mood was I'll just say peturbed which inclined me to voice my disagreement.

honestly, i'm a little surprised he got a star. he didn't have much of a workload, although he made a few good stops early in the game when the flyers got caught out of position a few times.

as for the booing, i don't like it, but i understand the frustration from the fans. it's unfair in a situation like tonight when his team had several good looks during the game and failed to score, and again failed during the SO. he's only made 2 saves in the SO this year out of something like 12 shots. like it or not, the SO is part of the game, and the points count the same - he was brought in to be a clutch guy and he simply hasn't delivered in that area for sure.

i'm glad he got the goose egg, and they still got a point. just have to keep going.

I get what you are saying about the shootut, but sooner or later the team has to score a goal. They couldn't even do that on the shootout. And I am completely with what you said before about the shooter selections. We absolutely cannot see Wayne Simmonds out there again if we go to another one this year. Giroux needs to be one or two.

As for Bryz not getting the star, I don't who else you give it to beside him and Nabokov. I know Nabokov faced a lot more shots but without looking back at highlights (I'll do that after some sleep too aggravated right now) It did not seem like there was any consistent threat from the flyers to score until the third period. I can't understand why this team won't get traffic in front of the goalie for three periods. Ugh I suppose they need to just keep plugging away and it will all come together, I unno.
Anyway I'm turning in if you reply I'll check back in the morning and reply on the next thread. Gnite!

I think Giroux should be the first shooter all the time. He's our biggest threat in the shoot out, and scoring first just puts more pressure on the other team. I don't like the idea of saving your best guy for third, because as we've seen several times, there is no guarantee you get to the third shooter.

I'd go with:

1. Giroux
2. Briere
3. Read, Voracek, or Schenn

Also, I'd make it a priority to practice it more. I know they have limited practice time, but this is a big issue for this team and it is costing us valuable points. Like it or not the gimmick is not going away, and we need to figure out a way to stop giving away these points.

Also, if I never see Simmonds in the shootout again it will be too soon. Love his overall game and his hustle, attitude, etc. Don't see how he's even in the discussion for shootout participants though. That is a head scratcher.

The shootout reminds me of the Power Play when Barber was the coach.

Apparently, Barber refused to practice 5-on-4 drills because his former Flyers coach, Fred Shero, never did it. Much to the chagrin of the players, Barber believed that talent and hard work would prevail over tactical planning in such situations.

"We had the worst power play in the league, why are we not practicing it?" Primeau said. "All season long we said if someone makes a mistake, they're getting yelled at

Did they boo him during the three stars of the game? I hope not, guy has confidence issues and that ain't right.

This team needs a spark. I don't have the answer but if they are going to pull the trigger on a trade no matter what, why not now. We just lost to three teams in our division. BTW: I still stand by my comments that they played a good game and deserved to win.

In the third there was the New York sucks chant, which is even more stupid. Giants win the Super Bowl, Flyers can't beat the Rangers to save their lives, and the game is tied 0-0 and you chant NY sucks?
