3rd worst PK in the NHL last year, and 2nd worst PK this year.

I'm not sure being among the leaders of a terrible PK unit is a good thing.

(also, I put "yet" in my last post. He's not good yet.)

He is a good player as a 22 year old defenseman. Having a good PK is about more then one player. He is a physical defenseman, with a lot of promise.

in 7 of the last 15 games he's played less than 15 minutes, they are limiting his minutes.

I don't like the idea of trading a JVR for a guy who's essentially a 3rd pairing dman right now.

Going to the Game tonight! Woot Woot! Oh wait they haven't won since 1988 when I go at least that's the last time I remember them winning with me in attendance
- JoeRussomanno

I was something like 3-21 in games I attended.

They've won the last 2 I attended, go and enjoy the win tonight

- Buts16

You beat me to it. I'll say NHL point but it will more then likely be a goal.

comfort on ice where it counts

On the ice it's Hockey. I don't think being in a big market has anything to do with it. He's just not playing well overall this year.

Yes, actually he is. He's 22 years old. It's not uncommon for a young defenseman to have ups and downs in his development. Bob McKenzie wrote yesterday that Schenn is playing well. He's a solid young defenseman who is in the top 4 on his team in PK icetime. And led the team in PK icetime in 10/11 as a 21 year old player.
- MJL

Let me also add that because the Toronto Maple Leafs have so many right handed shots, Schenn is often forced to play the left side on defense. Something we don't see in the NHL a lot but does happen from time to time.

He has struggled no doubt. He still has time to get straightened out, but the clock is ticking.

I flew off the handle on Bryz yesterday. Long day, frustrating weekend for Flyers fans. Hopefully tonight the team can get back on track and playing like they did in the first half. Last week was looking good until the weekend came. I'd love to see Bryz build off of his progress last week before the Rags game. The Islanders play hard, so the Flyers need to be ready to work and not look past them. I have a feeling Laviolette sent a pretty strong message to the team after this past weekend, so I don't think it will be an issue tonight.

If this just isn't his year I'm allright with that, b/c the last time it wasnt his year he had a vezina nomination the following season. Furthermore methinks this isn't the rest of the team's year either.

ive been posting that if JVR is involved, a dynamic puck mover has to be coming back, not a def dman w/ limited off ability. schenn's prob gonna be a nice 2nd pairing compliment to a rushing puck mover, but right now he's still developing.
- isaiah520

A JvR/Schenn deal would benefit both sides. Right now we need an upgrade on defense. At the moment I think it's rather unlikely Carle gets moved, so I'm thinking because Timonen, Meszaros and CArle all have pretty good hands, the puck moment isn't the priority. I think we're rather soft back there without Pronger and I can't even stretch how important it is that we get a little tougher back there. Not that Luke Schenn is going to fix our defensive breakdown, it doesn't hurt to have a stay at home back there with talent and real experience over Gus and Burdon.

It's too bad because up until that Gaborik goal I thought Bryz was actually playing fantastic. I was pumped and then my heart broke and I needed beers.
- Buts16

Agreed, that was the frustrating part. He had a good week prior to that game and a good game prior to that goal. Hopefully he gets in there tonight and has a solid game to move past Sunday.

Even if Bryzgalov doesn't make improvement the rest of the year. I will still have faith in him in the future. He's proven to be a very good goalie in his career. He just didn't suddenly forget how to play

I've never seen him play the L side...not that I watch tons of leaf gms.

I'd rather get franson for less and then get a guy like Allen. the lilly/gusty/MAB trio needs to ride the pine or hit the ice in the A.

He leads their team in +- with +10. He has 15 points, 175 hits, 77 blocked shots, and 34 pim.

If he was on our team his rankings would be.
Hits- 1st by 58.
Blocked Shots- 3rd behind carle and timonen (respectively)
Points- 4th
+-: 2nd to kimmo
Pim-2nd highest but all are very close...

No issue with that. When a player doesn't play up to his ability he should be called out.

Bryz will get a shutout tonight.

It was a strange year for him to start his career in Philly. Team overhaul up front, 24/7, winter classic, etc.
