Rumor has it that Luke Schenn is on the trading block as Burke looks for more offense for his second line and power play. The Isles may be able to entice the Leafs:

To NYI: Luke Schenn
To TOR: PA Parenteau and a draft pick (not sure what round)

The Islanders bring in a top-pairing, shutdown defenseman that they need for the future to pair with Calvin deHaan, and the Leafs get a 70-point player who is phenomenal on the power play in Parenteau. The draft pick is compensating for the fact that Schenn was a first round pick several years ago, and it would be tough to part with such a young player.

Any takers?

Eklund,

I sure am glad you didn't watch the Super Bowl so you could man the phones and make sure we get updates more than once every 24 hours. You are an inspiration.

Besides just saying no, how about elaborating as to why you don't like that trade? Schenn is being shopped by the Leafs, according to NHL Network this morning, and the Leafs are looking for a top-6 in return. Looking at the stats, Parenteau has more assists than anyone on the Leafs roster, and is going to be a 70+ point player this season. That's not too bad for a Leafs team who could use some help on the power play. Parenteau plays along the half-boards and would be a great compliment to your first PP unit. Nabokov also brings some stability and great playoff experience to a roster that is running on two goalies who have never had any playoff action.

In return, the Islanders get a top-4 defenseman that they sorely need, and someone to place alongside of Calvin deHaan when he comes up next season. You have to give some to get some, and this trade benefits both sides pretty equally, I believe.

He doesn't play with JT. He hasn't played with him since November. Since then, he's been playing with Nielsen, actually. He is a UFA at the end of the year. He has proven that he can put up points well on his own.

Where do these rumors come from?

The Blackhawks aren't taking on a 7.8 million dollar cap hit. They just traded a good player because he was grossly overpaid.

yeah the leafs are not going to include schenn in any deal for a rental, if its a sign and trade it is a possibility

the only rental player they would include him in for would be parise, and parise isnt being traded so you can scratch your proposal off

if we could get JVR would his way younger and a way higher ceiling with size for Schenn why would we get Parenteau, if its not for a guy who absolutely carrys our secondary scoring and makes a big difference on the power play were not trading Schenn who we are fine with keeping because hes a physical player that we dont have much of. Parenteau could leave us after this season as hes a UFA so no thank you.
