While I'm not a fan of trading for JVR...Toronto wouldn't be the losers in the deal.
JVR is going to be really good.

- Fakepartofme

Im on the other boat, I think Schenn is the better player.

JVR will be good if he doesn't have any concussion issues, which he's having now. For that reason alone, I wouldn't touch him at this time.

Same reason Rattie went 32nd in 2011.

Questions about how his game would translate to the NHL. And it was a deep draft.

You don't teach what he has, which is knowing where to be to put the puck in the net.

- mykokes

There's about 10 players he should have gone ahead of.
Heck Joe Colborne was selected higher than him....and he'll be lucky to be a 2nd line center.

This

Franson, gardiner and to a lesser extent aulie have made schenn expendable. Jvr is an upgrade for mac or kuli imo.

Kuli needs to fix whatever hes done to piss off his god. He cant get a break

Eberle plays like one... but he was 22nd.

I dont think its crazy to think they can get the 3 of them signed long term for 18-20 mill.

Which leaves a little money for other players....

- robin_steele264

You think 6-7 each?

Dude, no.

and by the time the new CBA is on the table, there won't be anymore 15 year contracts designed to circumvent the cap. There will be money out there, BIG money for all of these guys.

Edmonton will have a window, but not a huge window.

The Leafs would regret trading Kulemin. He's had too much bad luck this season so it's a write off but he'll rebound next year.

Once he grows into his size he'll be a great power forward.
Schenn might learn to play D one of these days..but either way, he's easily replaceable.

THIS. How many plays have I seen this year where Kulemin's play prevents a chance against, or causes a goal, and yet on the play he gets no assist. It's his bad break that this year will cost him money on his contract, it is a great break for us because regardless of stats Kulemin is solid gold.

I think you are over valuing him by a lot. I wouldn't use Schenn who is a valuable trade chip to get him.

Kessel is exactly the right player to have out there with 1 minute left and the opponent's net empty.

He loves getting the puck when he senses a goal.

I don't think they have time to build a championship caliber defense before it's time to start paying the young forwards.

Kessel is a legitimate threat to win the scoring title. Kewl.
