I agree with Voracek being the most expendable but I'm hoping no forwards are dealt and Homer keeps his options open for the off season. I'd be happy with Holmgren renting a UFA to be Dman for a reasonable price. I think there is too much uncertain with the team right now to risk making a big move.

Pronger's health, Carle's contract status and whether Jagr will be back next year are all things Holmer needs to evaluate before making another drastic move IMO.

This is all just speculation on my part. I'm not really worried about Jagr coming back. I think you do that if you have the Cap space available. But I would have no problem with not bringing him back. He's 40 years old. If they would get Schenn for Voracek, they would have the option of trading a defenseman and then jumping into the UFA market if someone like Suter is there.

The biggest issue is what happens with the Cap. I've heard some things that I don't like, but that's just speculation also.

LA needs a pure goal scorer, not a setup man. jake may be able to get schenn, but not JJ, imo.

schenn for jake seems like a decent deal, but I don't think he fits the mold of what burkes looking for.

The Leafs are in the market for the same. So I'm not sure if they would be interested in Jake at the cost of Schenn either.

I had no idea Vorcacek had that much value. I'd be OK with Vorcacek+(Sestito or Harry Z) for Schenn. I just hate the idea of losing JVR.

None of us really know what Voracek's value would be in a deal. Were all just speculating.

Voracek is a 22 year old playmaker with a lot of skill and size to boot. He's definitely a valuable asset.

Similar to his role in the Richards trade, I look at him as a strong compliment in a trade. However, if he does bring the value of a centerpiece in a trade for Schenn, I'd have a hard time saying no to the trade.

Which also begs the question. If he has so much interest in him and seems like he could be available for a fair price; why is he available? Wouldn't Burke want to hold onto this sort of franchise player that teams tend to build around? People always speak how franchise forwards are commodities compared to franchise defenseman. Why is Burke "seemingly" okay with giving up Schenn?

Not when they have so much defensive depth

I'm not fired up about trading JVR either. Out of any of the young forwards, the one I'd be most willing to deal, would be Voracek. If I was Holmgren, he would be the bait if needed.
- MJL

I agree, which is why I asked earlier today if anyone would be willing to take on Dustin Brown for Jake Voracek. There is a lot of unknown heading into next season and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with preparing right now as we head into the playoffs. Voracek is a play maker and Jagr isn't exactly scoring in bunches. At the moment I really miss Jeff Carter's shot from anywhere, wing or center. Brown is a scorer and he plays a physical game. He's also young and his cap hit is affordable with a couple years left on it.

Problem is Toronto is supposively looking for a Power Forward. Dont think Voracek fits that description.

If Toronto would take Voracek + for Schenn I would pull the trigger on that move and I like Voraceks game.

Dustin Brown is a nice player. But if I'm trading a young forward, I'd like a defenseman in return.
