Pretty sure they didn't go get Giroux in the offseason to stop pucks. Giroux was drafted and blossomed into a great player. The Flyers went after Bryz before he was even a free agent because he was "the guy". Giroux is a 3rd year player. BIG difference.

When you call out "money players" for not stepping up, and limit that blame to one guy, it's kind of dumb.

All i know is that was a terrible goal against.

Let the Rangers' fans chant. In the days of the GAG line, they used to chant "we're number one" because they were in first place. It was galling. But the Bruins and Habs stuffed it down their throats. And it was extra sweet when the Flyers put them and Brad (I'd rather lose with the guys in this dressing room than win it like them) Park out to pasture in May of 74. Unfortunately, they've won a Cup within the last 20 years and the Flyers have to go waaaaaaaaay back.

Well, the only way Schultz could win a fight was by pulling hair, so at least Sestito is learning from the dirtiest of em all.

I think it's dumb to keep giving Bryz a pass. Has it been the team's fault all year that Bryz has played below expectations? Is it not ok to call him out with 3 months left in the season when he hasn't stolen a game yet?

Guys, guys, can we just accept that every Flyer is worthy of some blame? This blamethrowing/asbestos defense is rather silly.

They're missing Pronger, JVR, and Briere. Three guys who can add to the scoring/forecheck while (in the case of Pronger) mitigating goals against.

Also, Bryz has a virus.

Speaking of +/- that wonderfully, improving, consistent Carle is a - player on the season. He's right in the Norris discussion without question.
- PLindbergh31

Yes Carle is a minus player. And who is expecting Carle to be in the Norris trophy voting? So that's a ridiculous statement. By the way, it is not entirely on Giroux that he is a -13. But he hasn't been helping the situation defensively lately.

Here's the bottom line. Carle has been playing outstanding Hockey all Season.

When people say that the relationship between team defense and the goaltending is symbiotic, they're right. Somebody said it earlier, but neither the defense or the goalie seem to have a ton of faith in each other.

Look at Gaborik's goal yesterday. Bryzgalov was so worried about a cross crease pass that he neglected to simply hug the post and make himself big. It's a two way street. Both sides have to be better.

- Jsaquella

It really isn't Bryzgalov's job though to worry about the cross ice pass. It's his defense that has to worry about that.

He needs to hug the post. That's his job, if he does that the goal doesn't go in.

What frustrates the fans is this guy was brought in to stop those kinds of Boucher, Nittymaki types of sinkers. Soft goals happen to the best of them. He's given up too many, big contract or not. He needs to be better. The whole team needs to be better.

Unfair was what I had in mind.. but dumb as well.

Bryzgalov was not the reason this team lost 2 games this weekend. In fact, he played great in the near comeback on Sat. and was the ONLY reason the team was in the game through 2 periods yesterday. Did he collapse? Yes he most certainly did. But it was far from all his fault. The team (and i use that term loosely) looked like a bunch of Alzheimer patients on skates.

I back read a few pages and agree with both sides that have came to.. well discuss. I agree that Bryz needs to stop both shots, the one he just seemed to over pay and Gabs put the puck on net and scored, the other was the 3rd goal which really was the heart breaker. If Bryz only allows the 2nd goal and drives on noone wuld really make a big deal but when he let in that 3rd goal, that right there killed us. I agree as well with everything eles team D wise as well. Im not saying to break the bank for a dman but I would like to remain competitive and get guy like Gill to round things out. Maybe Gusty or MAB can learn a thing or two from him.

Schultz was the ultimate hair puller.

He succeeded as a fighter because of the 70's long hair phase, only reason.

Nor am I, but when the goalie lays his stick out across the crease, one can reasonably assume he's doing so to prevent the cross crease pass. He wasn't trying to poke check, he had the paddle down, which would have blocked a pass across the crease.

No need to read minds, just understand basic physics.

Was Bryz brought in to make those kind of saves when the team breaks down?
- funmaster18

No, he was brought to Philadelphia and paid 10 million dollars to be worse than Boucher was.

Know how a lot of ppl say Pronger made Carle? Well Carle has been paired with Bourdon... yet still has been our 2nd best d-man.

Bryz has played under his expactations all year. Everything you mentioned above doesn't affect Bryz's positioning and decision making. No one is saying Bryz is a failure, or that he should be traded, simply that he needs to be the guy we thought we were getting.

I'm focusing on the goalie because in the end, he stops the puck. Regardless of what break downs there may be, he has to make some key saves and steal you games some times and I haven't really seen that.

Honestly i think the flyers should be sellers this year.iwould trade kimmo, briere, bryz if possible.i think kimmo, and briere could get a good return from a real contending team.

I don't think you can conclusively show that he's pulling his hair from a snapshot. He very well could but I've seen a picture of a chick who looked naked at an office party for it only to be her fat friends arm behind her making it look that way.

The people saying Sestito didn't pull hair and was just trying to pry off the helmet, you aren't paying attention. Helmet is ripped off at :33. At :42, Sestito uses his right hand to pull the front of Prust's hair backward to pry Prust off of him, then throws a left while holding Prust's hair.

Rangers also say that he was trying to rip out Prust's stitches that he received from taking a puck to the face earlier in the game. They definitely came out, but there's no video evidence of Sestito intentionally attacking them. But knowing what a POS Sestito is, it wouldn't surprise me.

And the people asking where Rupp was, Rupp couldn't fight because his hand is still messed up from taking a slash from Eric Boulton. Boulton was fined $2,500.
