But that shouldn't excuse him from criticism. If anything, he should be held to a higher standard because of his progression to one of the best players in the league.
- lindros8888

If people want to criticize Giroux, have at it. He hasn't been the best player in the NHL the last 15 games, like he was the previous 35, other players have to help pick up the slack.

If he's pulling Prust's hair, which it certainly looks like he is, you don't find that to fall outside the code?

Impossible to tell from that pic tbh.

Lundqvist has been the best player in the NHL this season.

He has been schooling Giroux all season long like he has been everyone else.

Embarrassing and shameful.
- rockychocbill

It looks to me like Sestitos fist slipping off the Rangerhead after connecting with the forehead. But I'm not looking for anything to be outraged about after my team outeverythinged the other team, so maybe that's my problem. I guess next time the Flyers tool someone I need to go looking for reasons to be upset.

I agree there would seem to be other areas that people should be complaining about...I would like to complain about team defense or the lack thereof.

Honestly, if he did that, there is no defending it. By anyone. For any reason.
- rockychocbill

From what I have seen and read, he's not exactly a prince of a guy to fans, either. One friend of mine who goes to practices and such said that he was an obnoxious jerk.

The hair pulling seems to reenforce that. He's been an effective player, but if he keeps hitting guys high and pulling hair, he's going to start finding himself suspended and a target of refs.

has a Flyers fan almost died from being attacked by going to a game at MSG to the best of your knowledge?
- jimbro83

well i didn't get the police or hospital reports but i have seen some pretty gnarly fights occur at MSG after games, as well as human poop being smeared all over the concourse... and the whole place smelling in general like a dirty hamper. nobody is going to defend the actions of the one isolated incident to which you keep referring, that was obviously an atrocious attack. i am talking about what is the general accepted behavior on a daily basis.

Lundqvist will win the Vezina easily, but I wouldn't say he has been the best player.

I don't think you can conclusively show that he's pulling his hair from a snapshot. He very well could but I've seen a picture of a chick who looked naked at an office party for it only to be her fat friends arm behind her making it look that way.

Giroux's play has contributed to the decline in team defense over the past few weeks. He and his linemates need to be better in their own end as much as any of the other lines.

no, because we don't have the best record in the league or anything.

Lundqvist is having the goalie equivalent of Gretzky's 92 goal season.

Giroux is the last player on the roster that deserves criticism.

agrEEd.

I thought Bryz was starting to put things together alittle bit over the last stretch of games.

Yesterdays game was big in so many ways and Bryz came up small.

In statement games I want to see the money players play like the money players.

What I find comical are the people who were knocking Bourdon on that play.

It was Carle who turned it over to the Rangers but somehow it was Bourdons fault.

- ggunky

Carle is the main culprit on the play, but he also didn't get any help from his teammates.

agreed. I would sure like to see this team clamp down and become a strong defense first team, not saying trap or anything like that, but maybe Lavy should tweak his system a little...seems to be a little too aggressive at times and they end up getting burned a lot. Of course, a little better goaltending might go along way toward helping that.

Anyone who has played bad for a period of weeks deserves criticism. It's not always limited to the scapegoats and whipping boys, unless people are biased and incapable of rational analysis.

Giroux's game is not where it needs to be in his own end and hasn't been there for awhile. He gets more of a pass than others, but it shouldn't make him immune.

Two wide open nets missed in back to back games when the team was down 1-0 early.

He passed it rite on the tape of the opposing player.

He had the easy play, chip it out.

He failed.

Since were talking about what people are overlooking, Giroux's lack of quality two way play in the last month or so is a huge issue for this team. As the team's top player, he isn't immune to criticism, if it's deserved. And it is deserved right now.
