He's clearly pressing. He's trying to do way to much, and its not helping.

I think MJL was the one that said Girouxs a -13 since the new year.

Losing two guys like JVR and Briere obviously isn't helping, but Giroux needs to relax. He's clearly on edge. He has to realize he can't be superman, although I admire the fact that he wants to be.

I thought Jagr was absolutely awful all weekend. I couldn't tell you how many times I watched him turn the puck over in the offensive zone in those two games. He looks like hes trying to hard as well.

- mochoson

I thought Hartnell was invisible this weekend as well, besides running around like a fool a few times he didn't do much. Hopefully it was just a bad weekend, the Flyers are better than they played IMO.

Las Vegas has made the Patriots the favorites for next year's Super Bowl. There is a tie for second favorite between #Eagles and Steelers.

What is the (frank)ing point of that? Predicting the favorites before you even know what the rosters will look at? This is why I can't stand football. Too much nonsense surrounding it like that.

Been reading through yesterdays thread, and I think most people are missing a simple point.

The Flyers aren't a great defensive team, there are breakdowns that occur often, with no Pronger and 7-8 rookies in the lineup every game, that is to be expected. No way around it. Sure they can tighten up, and limit the mistakes which would go a long way.

What's being missed is this, in the four game season series with the Rangers, Lundqvist has allowed zero soft goals. ZERO. while Flyers goaltenders have allowed at least 5, maybe more. That is the difference in the Flyers posting zero points, instead of 3-4. It's that simple. The Flyers aren't going to beat elite teams giving up soft goals.

- PLindbergh31

I disagree 100% that the breakdowns are expected. That couldn't be more incorrect in my opinion. And not having Pronger is a weak excuse for how the Flyers played as a team this weekend. The goaltending is certainly an issue. Nobody is missing the difference between the goaltending in the Rangers game. You could've been watching your first Hockey game and seen the difference there.

Carle had an easy play up the boards.

All he had to do was chip it up of the glass or boards.

The gap between the forwards and defense was way to big.

But, that was 100% on Carle. He put it rite on the tape of the Rags stick.

To point the finger at anyone else is to be in denial.

That is on Carle. Just would like to see Bourdon do something than watch.

Did Matt Carle shoot a weak ass shot at Bryz? I believe that was Gaborik and I believe that's a stop he HAS TO MAKE. Especially with 5 seconds left in the period.
- funmaster18

Ok... yes it should have. But that shot also never should have happened. Bryz absolutely needs to play better but he is far from the main problem with this team. Outside Kimmo they have zero defensive consistency infront of him at all. That doesn't help.

People don't throw goalies under the bus when they steal a game or two. I have yet to see a game won that has been because of the play of Bryzgalov. That's my biggest issue. Not only does he let in weak goals routinely, he has yet to be the deciding factor that the team has won a game. We brought him in to do both.

I agree that they all need to be better, but Bryz was supposed to be the guy that steals you a game once in a while. Hasn't happened yet.

It happened the first game of the season if you want to get technical.

Could have just gave the same check to Boucher at this point.

Carle has been a rock all season. It was a mistake Im willing to forget. Its not something he will be doing on a regular basis. They are humans just like us, not machines.

If I remember correctly, Bourdon was already stuck in the position he was in, and stayed there to take away any type of cross crease pass to whatever Ranger was on the other side. If anything, that's all Bourdon could do. He forced Dubinsky to shoot, another shot that Bryz had a chance to make.

I will never fault a goalie for a goal caused by a defensive zone turnover during a break-out. However, I felt the Bourdon did all he could to help Bryz in that situation. It sucks, because you give the guy a massive contract because you THINK he's capable of making a save in a situation like that to keep his team in it. It also really would have been nice considering the previous two he let in.

I would like to clarify, however, that that goal was entirely Carles fault.

Yep. No one is denying that the defense needs to be MUCH better, but too many people are using that as an excuse for Bryz. Bryz needs to be better BOTTOM LINE. He was brought in to be a franchise goalie and stop the garbage goals. He hasn't done that to the level he was expected to.
- funmaster18

No question about it. Bryzgalov is suppose to be an upgrade over what we had and this year he hasnt been. He needs to do a better job and even if the defense makes mistakes you have to make basic saves to keep your team in the game. Now if he gives up goals that are impossible to save thats another story. Yesterdays game he should of made those stops.

What I find comical are the people who were knocking Bourdon on that play.

It was Carle who turned it over to the Rangers but somehow it was Bourdons fault.

Just looked at the video clip and it seemed that MAB didn't pick up the trailer (Del Zotto) or the guy to the right of Del Zotto. He didn't look around to see what his options were. He just stared ahead and watched the outcome unfold.

It will. But the team in front of him just needs to start becoming more consistant defensively.

Carle for the most part has been a stud.

No doubt.

My only knock on Carle is his shot or lack there of.

Kimmo and Mezzy are really the only two D men we have that I like anymore. You can throw Coburn in too. He's a solid player. Carle is hot and cold, which is a terrible attribute for a D man. They'll probably make a minor move. My guess is adding Gill for a late round pick then target D men heavily in both the draft and UFA market.
- hereticpride

Carle has been incredibly consistent all year. His overall game has gotten better. He made a mistake yesterday. But he has been playing outstanding Hockey all Season.

He made a whopping 22 saves. I wouldn't save he stole the game. But I'd welcome more of that over what were getting now, for sure.

I hear ya, but Carle couldn't have made a better pass to the Rags player.

To be honest I think the whole entire Flyers team froze when they saw that pass!

Carles not a shooter. He never really has been.

You could say the same thing to Coburn. Coburn could rack up a ton of points if he ever got his shot on net. He has a cannon. He may not have the vision or passing ability Carle has, but I just don't understand how he misses the net so much.

hey man congrats on the win... it was well deserved

but also a direct result of that dropped ball by Welker in that drive late in the 4th. a play that will have him on par with Bill Buckner in terms of Boston - and national - sports mythology.

so again, great job, and awesome luck again for Big Blue

Me too. Giroux is -4 and second in the league in scoring. That seems almost impossible. He wins faceoffs but seems to be overmatched physically in the defensive zone sometimes. A problem, I might add, that has been raised as a concern here in the past.

He is small and will wear down.

- MBFlyerfan

Giroux in the 16 games they've played in 2012 is a -13.

They Flyers D in general isn't very good at hitting the net with there shots.
