schenn is fine, but not for JVR. plus w/ carle's status, I'd rather trade for a puck mover. schenn is not dressing regularly in TOR , so he's a work in progress and hardly the panacea that some here seem to think. - isaiah520
Toronto has played 52 games. Schenn has played in 51 games.
And PK Subban is the panacea that you seem to think he is? |

and he's getting ~ 16 mins per gm. wonder why he's the first name people talk about in a major trade involving a leaf dman. the media in TOR is rough for sure. sorry I got that one wrong - isaiah520
Because Schenn is a solid young defenseman who has already played a top role on the team as a 21 year old. If he's such an average player, why is there so much interest in him. It's not uncommon for a young defenseman to have ups and downs in his development. We've seen that with defenseman on the Flyers that are significantly older.

Which also begs the question. If he has so much interest in him and seems like he could be available for a fair price; why is he available? Wouldn't Burke want to hold onto this sort of franchise player that teams tend to build around? People always speak how franchise forwards are commodities compared to franchise defenseman. Why is Burke "seemingly" okay with giving up Schenn? |

I don't think Burke feels that Schenn is a franchise player and neither do I. He feels he needs a top Forward, and according to the rumors, because that's all we know. He has interest in JVR. Burke knows if he has any chance to get a player like JVR, he has to give up value in return. I'm not advocating trading JVR for Schenn. But I have no doubt that Schenn could help the Flyers.

I personally would not trade Matt Read. He is going to be a 30 goal 2 way Winger, who also is on an EL deal with a 900K Cap hit for two more Seasons after this one.

I dont like the idea of trading young talented forwards but we need help on defense badly. The Flyers are going to have to give up a talented player inorder to acquire a player like Schenn. |

the money thing is a plus but jvr is younger, has size and could be a 30/30 guy easy |

I'm not fired up about trading JVR either. Out of any of the young forwards, the one I'd be most willing to deal, would be Voracek. If I was Holmgren, he would be the bait if needed.

this is the toughest year for me on trying to figure out in my mind who should go and who should stay....im torn on jake, at time he really looks good and promising but if burke said i want either jake or jvr, jake would have to go
i wouldnt be thinking anything if pronger was not hurt, luke to me is a hit machine and i beleive has led the leauge in hits since he came into the nhl... |

I think I would be open to trading Voracek for Luke Schenn. |

I agree with Voracek being the most expendable but I'm hoping no forwards are dealt and Homer keeps his options open for the off season. I'd be happy with Holmgren renting a UFA to be Dman for a reasonable price. I think there is too much uncertain with the team right now to risk making a big move.
Pronger's health, Carle's contract status and whether Jagr will be back next year are all things Holmer needs to evaluate before making another drastic move IMO. |
