The defense has been the biggest disappointment to me this year. - jak521
Well if someone told you Pronger basically wouldn't play the entire season, who wouldn't be concerned about the defense?
The amount of soft goals Bryzgalov has allowed is the most stunning and flat out unacceptable aspect of the season thus far. |

I'll be the first one to say that Bryzgalov was the primary reason they lost yesterday. But my issue is when people say he was the only reason they lost. - Jsaquella
i can agree with that |

(frank) it. Trade them all..
Fire Bryzgalov
Waive JvR
Trade Briere
Kill Timonen
Kidnap Schenn
Forcefeed Coots
Take away Lavas gum - jak521
Im all for it, bigger problem though is that the ADK wont have a place for JVR so we will have to risk him to recall waivers. I think that can be fixed by having JVR disguised as Walker |

Honestly i think the flyers should be sellers this year.iwould trade kimmo, briere, bryz if possible.i think kimmo, and briere could get a good return from a real contending team. - richiewinthecup

2 soft goals in 1 game, yeah, I will put that at the feet of the goalie.

Was just pointing out the fact the +/- isn't a indicator of a players performance. Pointing out Giroux is a -13 in 2012 means what exactly? What's the point? He's the last guy on the roster that deserves criticism. - PLindbergh31
Then why did you repeatedly criticize Carle in last year's playoffs, for what his +/- was? Does it just depend on what player you like or don't like. You don't need to see +/- to know that Giroux has played poorly in the defensive end for the last month or so. And you also don't need it to see that Carle has been outstanding all year. You want to win the Cup? There are two sides of the puck. Giroux doesn't get a pass just because he's the top scorer in the League. Do you want to win? If you do, and Giroux is going to play as much as he is. Well then he better get that part of his game together. And to overlook it and give him a pass, is putting blinders on.

All i know, physics aside, Bryz needs to stop that shot. - ggunky
Let me go back and read where I said that the goal wasn't his fault....hmmm nope, can't find it anywhere.
So maybe you should actually read what I wrote. There's a cause and effect for everything. If you want to blame one player for the sins of the team, feel free. You look foolish, but hey, knock yourself out.
Bryzgalov did come up small. So did Giroux. And Jagr. And Carle. And Hartnell. And Meszaros.
But hey, it's all Bryz's fault, because that's easier. |

Well, the only way Schultz could win a fight was by pulling hair, so at least Sestito is learning from the dirtiest of em all. - jimbro83
Actually, if you watched the fights he was in you'd know that won most of them without pulling hair. He didn't win every fight and he wasn't the best fighter but he was very good at picking his spots. The Rangers' of the era never had the guts to hold Shultz accountable for the Dale Rolf beating. |

It really amazes me that a guy who was brought here to be the solution has been more the problem. And the fact that people continue to defend the guy is mind boggling. - PLindbergh31
Just wonder if this would be the case if Leighton was in net giving up these goals yesterday.
I think Bryzgalovs defense hasnt been great but that doesnt mean you have to stink it up either.
I like Bryz by the way. |

While working on major update I received this text...I will have the major update in the noon hour, but I wanted this up, because it is possible something with Washington happens sooner... and I wouldn't be shocked if Semin is dealt for an equally big-time forward...
Must be Jody Shelley... |

No.. Im just saying i dont know of a case of someone getting nearly murdered at the sports complex.
I know of 4 idiots from Jersey who went into south philly for a cheesesteak and happened to cheer for different teams. Not near the complex.
I know I wouldnt go get drunk in NYC and walk around Queens with my Phils jersey on talking poop. Not that I shouldnt be able to.. its just probably not in my best benefit.. |

No, it isn't in line. But enough with the sensationalism. It severely weakens your argument and makes you sound like a puppet when you have to add the 10 million dollar comment every time you mention the word Bryzgalov. We know his salary, his cap hit, and his contract length. We are aware of how the cap works. Instead of continually mentioning he makes 10 million dollars this year, stick to talking about his play (or lackthereof). It's like when Michelle Bachman walks out and regurgitates the line "We want to make Obama a (say it with me)"ONE TERM PRESIDENT"! |

Who thinks Leighton is a franchise goaltender? Bryzgalov was paid like one, and was considered to be the answer. 30 some odd starts may not be a good sample size of what he will be, but to this point the guy has been a colossal flop. |

When your goalie allows 2 soft goals in a game you lost 4 - 2 (before empty netter) I have no problem blaming the goalie for the lose.
The team fights its way back from 2-1 to tie it at 2. then Bryz turns around and allows another softy rite after.
Say whatever you want about it isn't all his fault, the team was pushing and getting their mo going and he craps the bed.
It falls on Bryz's shoulders, he needs to be better.

19-11 is a flop? I'd hate to hear what a .500 record would be considered...
I think everyone is in agreement that he isn't what was expected of him. And I don't think there's 1 person in here that ISN'T willing to hold him accountable. But when people want to give everyone else a free pass or say that it's ultimately Bryz's fault because he's "the last line of defense" (seriously, with that comment?), it bears repeating that it's a team effort and no one really looked good out there over the weekend..... |

No tunnel vision here.
He had a better option then the one he choose. - ggunky
We here all the time that the Goalie is supposed to erase the mistakes made. That's true. Here's what else I know. When a player such as Carle makes a mistake like he did there, and there is no support from the rest of the players on the ice, that's the same thing. And if all the other issues on that play are ignored, then that is indeed tunnel vision, and not seeing the total picture. Good teams just don't do that as much as the Flyers do. They play too much as individuals, and not as a team at times. And make no mistake about it, I'm not excusing Carle in any way. It was piss poor decision on his part, that led to a goal. |
