YOU'RE RIGHT ON!!
little tweaks, thats all! shane o'b & steve downie
allen & ruuttu???
you get it! we ain't trading f'n kane end of story! those old enough remember the phil esposito trade, bobby hull leaving, chelios, roenick ,belfour all being dealt for 1 reason or enother? we got crap back in return and in some cases it bit us on the f'n ass! little moves is all we need for some red ass!most teams would kill to have 2,7,19,88,10&81 all on the same god dam team!!!

What you got to watch was a guy named Mike Smith's artillery of supposedly skilled Russians. No Ruskies on the Hawks for me,ever! I can even tolerate a French Canadian on this team at some point as long as his name isn't Max Lapierre.

Yes, Kane scored the cup winning goal...TWO years ago!!! Is that going to be your excuse for his mediocre play for years to come? I love Kaner, don't get me wrong (he's an ASSIST machine)...and at the beginning I was subscribing to your school of thought as well. But this team has glaring holes that could absolutely be filled by trading Kane, and lets be honest...his offensive production this year (so far) is no better than Stahlbergs. So why the hell not trade him if the return is worth it?
- Murph76

We need to add to what we have not subtract. Start dealing those highly touted prospects and get some power forwards. Look what NYR did, they went and got Mike Rupp and this Brian Boyle kid can play, but whats the difference? Tortorella stuck with them. If they (frank)ed up he demanded they make up for it, not send them down to the forth line and shake up the entire line-up. Kane is coming off wrist surgery, I agree, teams have figured him out, but he is still effective. He is a playmaker first that can score, but just because were not getting both doesnt mean we should ship him away.

You do if the return is right. Got it?

Not saying Kane will be traded, in fact he likely won't be traded. But to say you can't trade a guy because he scored one particular goal is the same type of irrational thinking behind the trade demands now just because he doesn't have twice as many goals this season as you think he should.

I also don't think you empty the cupboard on rentals you likely won't sign back longer term unless you are absolutely convinced that the additions give you a REAL shot at the Cup.

It's a fine line.

- Return of the Roar

Don't think that would happen but guess we would all be curious as to how married SB is to his prospects. Yeah they're opposite ends of the spectrum and sure the prospects as a whole are not as highly rated as other teams' prospects (based on JJ's analysis). I'm hoping that if its expiring contracts only in return that SB will deal a couple of his prospects.

come on duke! you never lay all your cards on the table. never was one to respond to that "source?" bullcrap, otherwise you start to sound like eklund!
it's like if someone farts he picks up the phone and tells everyone about it!
just sit back, wait & see how it all unfolds!
what i do know is the hawks brass could care a less what all the carcillo bashers say. bottom line is what they see and how they feel, which is favorable in this case. it's just that players like this are more favorable to their teams vs. someone who just comes in and slides through the cracks (bickell & a few others). 2 things here: 1) major knee injury like burrish 2 years ago. is danny gonna work hard like burrish to get to 100%? 2nd) his agent & $$? which is favorable in the hawks case. actually 3 rd) the players age, 26,27 is better than 31,32,33 with injuries like that. all we know is when this kid got hurt, shlit went into the tank, thats all!
shaw koolaid?? we like him here, but it is unfair to put projections on a 20 year old kid and ask him to do more than need be (see nick leddy at this point) shaw will be a nice player but he ain't kevin dineen just yet ,and like stated before ,he already got his clock cleaned once by zac man! (dam how does holmgren always find those types, rinaldo, sestito, downie and a few others!)
it's on the GM to find some help, speaking of downie, he'd be a decent guy to look at if stevie wonder is getting ready to sell along with some D.
back to Eck, what dream did he have with nash/hawks crap.
you'd probably have to start with kane, leddy, your top A man & this years first rounder, just for starters, so flush the toilet on that one.
vancouver? are they giving up kesler, schnieder, maybe 1 of the twins & picks? no, so count them out. you get my point here , all bow crap.
let the hawks make a couple of little deals and work out of it, they'll be ok!
i like bryan allen or shane O'B and maybe a guy or 2 like downie and?? to compliment the skill! who knows???
further koolaid:...all the "stalberg is the next "john leclair" type winger for 19&88?? yeah?? until the next time he goes up against kevin bieksa and gets throttled! maybe the truer comparison should be "stalberg is the next ken yaremchuk"!still need a winger for those guys ??downie?? he fit good with stamkos? yes???

Rob Longley, respected columnist for the Toronto Sun, reported that the press box at Air Canada Centre was overflowing with scouts for last night's Oilers/Leafs game, including 'two from the struggling Blackhawks'. Potential Hawk target Andy Sutton did not play, but Ladislav Smid did and was a +3.

Leaf agitator Mike Brown, a Chicago native, would be a good pickup too, but he's probably not even on ZZZZZZZZZZZZtanbow's radar.

I am sure I will be flamed for this, but I feel the league has figured out Patrick Kane. Play him physical, force him to the boards. The team that effecitvely does that neutralizes him. If Chicago is going to have a cherry picker hanging out by the blue line I would rather have Nash, a true power forward doing it (rather not have him cherry picking, but the boy can score). Rationalization would be getting a physical player that can really score for Toews' wing. A tkachuk model that Chicago has missed all these years

Frolik and Kane

for

Dorsett/Boll and Nash

Picks might be included, but Frolik is replaced on the bottom six by a true physical winger.

Thoughts?

Would do it in a heartbeat, although Kane would never approve the trade to Columbus. As far as cap implications....what does everyone think is going to happen when Kane and Toews contracts are up in the same year!? Eight million each?? They won't be able to do a Hossa deal for them. I'll take Nash over Kane EVERYDAY of the week and TWICE on Sunday!!

Easier to say that now, but No one knows what Kane will be doing when he's 25.

i think were all convinced this team as constructed does not have a ligitimate chance to win the cup so changes are needed
the core is soft and trade of kane for getslaf would help to balance tha out
both players are know quantities

wtf enough with the Kane trade talk this is bullpoop. This guy scored the cup winning goal and you want to trade him too the Blue Jackets, jesus christ. So sick of reading all your negative talk, have some respect these guys will pull through. Bunch of f ing over analytical babies you are. Can't you just enjoy the f ing game. None of you even have the smallest clue as to whats going on and don't pretend you do. we went 49 years with no cup , we are 2 years removed from one. We have potentially the best young core sign for 5 plus years in the entire NHL and you guys suggest we trade Kane. FFS get over yourselfs its hockey.

And dont you tell me not to read the blog or comments i payed my dues and have been a long time member

- Dojodan

Remove your rose colored glasses immediately!! I choose the BETTER player for longer term because guess what....Kane WILL be gone before his deal is up. Kane and Toews deals will expire at the same time, and you're not going to lose Toews....just saying!!
