Mtl still have 11-12 years to win a Stanley Cup. 1993+30=2023. If you guys win the cup before 2023, it's success, if not, epic fail like the Leafs, atleast thats what i heard. Better Romour than Ek's eh?

You're assuming the Leafs win it this year....and I can't blame you. They will be hard to beat...best offense, best D's, best goalies, best coaches, best GM....it's a perfect storm.

Leafs are Eklund's example of a team that should risk it all.

I can't see anyone beating that powerhouse.

Considering your place in the standings, and the celebration your team is having today, I am suprised you have the nerve to insult any team, let alone the Leafs. You were lucky to move Cammy, but you wont move Gomez,Kabele, etc.
Your team is comprised of horrible contracts, and you have a GM that has scarred this team for many years.

You sit last. And because of that, of all things you do, chipring should be the last thing you do.

The Canadians are set in their ways. They have been built on class, pride, and respect.

Maybe as a fan, you should try the same.,..

Leafs will not go to playoff for 6 straight years or if they do, 1st round buh-bye. They should've won the cup in 1997 or sooner to be considered success franchise base on this formula: 1967 (last cup) + 30 (Teams in NHL). On the other hand. Mtl still have 11-12 years remainning until they are considered failures like the Leafs are calling them this year. 1993 + 30 = 2023.

I wish there was a sarcasm emoticon - I almost wrote a big thing disagreeing, then thought "eh, there's no way he actually meant that - must have been being sarcastic."

As kings fan I wouldn't mind to go all out and try to win it, at least we can say that they tried and we would either won it or be close. Its better that way than a first round exit or not making it at all.

I think it depends on the stability of the franchise. Being a Sabres fan, I think it would be extremely beneficial to the franchise to risk it all for one cup. It could be the bump they need to make the team a more elite club (i.e. Red Wings). Pegula has done great things to make Buffalo the place to play but the only thing that will take it to the next level is a cup. On the other hand, a team like Detroit which is already a wanted destination for players benefits from building and can stay a top the league because they don't need to prove they are a winning franchise.

Dude - no one gets to be the Red Wings by betting the rent money on 32 black! You get to be the Wings by doing absolutely everything better than any other team in the league!

EDIT: Also, you have to be better at everything for at least a decade, continously. I so wish their management team would come work for the Oilers.

spell the players name correctly if you want to be taken as a serious blogger. If not, you will be no better than some of the gems that already write, who also get 0 respect.

Well the Red Wings also have mad luck. Its not good scouting that Zetterberg, picked in the seventy third round becomes a superstar, thats just good fortune. Not to take away from the fact that they probably are the best run franchise in prosports, but still, they've been pretty luckey, for the most part.

You're giving us a top-tier goaltender and a player coming off a career threatening injury plus an unproven prospect for one of the most underrated, top defensemen in the game, a huge, physical top 6 forward and a gritty player with offensive talent that slots in anywhere in the line-up. Not a chance the Bolts give up Hedman.
- Michael_Stuart

Hahaha Hedman is not one of the top defensemen in the game. He has the potential to be that one day down the line but he's not really even close right now.

EK what are you talking about i would love to have nash on my team but you do realize who we are talking about Nash and a 1st from CBJ which will be top if not the top one and the canucks are only giving up schnieder and raymond who isn't even that good he can only score 15 goals max a season so not only would CBJ not do the deal but there is a ridiculous cap hit from nash so the nucks would probably have to through in ballard and tanev so the only way they would do something like this it would have to be

Nash tutin and a 1st for schnieder raymond ballard and tanev
