The bottom line is that the Flyers are far, far too aggressive on the offensive side of the puck. That has to be fixed.

That is on the coach (at least partly).

no, you just skirted the issue, which was my point that jj is worth more than schenn and compensation for similar players recently proves the point. go get Bryan Allen for draft picks/ middling prospects and trade guys like JVR for dynamic puck movers that GMs value enuf to trade 1st line wingers+ for.

right now Allen is more consistent and schenn's upside isnt appreciably higher. good nite.

- isaiah520

I didn't make a single comment on who was worth more, Johnson or Schenn. Players like Schenn aren't easy to get. If they were the Flyers would have drafted one by now.

And Schenn's upside isn't appreciably higher then Allen's? That is just simply incorrect.

Nobody got hurt. Brayden Schenn scored a pretty breakaway goal. Flyskippy's rash went away

The kid's got almost every attribute you could ask for in an impact player. Can't wait 'til he puts it all together consistently. He's a beauty.

The emergence of the Tito Train(as titled by Bill Clement)

Tom got himself tossed after 3 fights against the Rags. Dude might be a grade A hot head but it's great to see a guy of that size throwing his weight around on a consistant basis. We aren't consistently seeing those kinds of hits from any of our defensemen this year, and granted hitting does not equal winning.... but I'm glad to finally see the opposition getting knocked around as much as we are. It's an element I think we're sorely missing in our own zone this year.

Haven't gone to sleep yet, and I have work at 3 o'clock.... Just saw the Eli Disneyworld commercial....

Been reading through the thread and I think most people are missing a simple point.

The Flyers aren't a great defensive team, there are breakdowns that occur often, with no Pronger and 7-8 rookies in the lineup every game, that is to be expected. No way around it. Sure they can tighten up, and limit the mistakes which would go a long way.

What's being missed is this, in the four game season series with the Rangers, Lundqvist has allowed zero soft goals. ZERO. while Flyers goaltenders have allowed at least 5, maybe more. That is the difference in the Flyers posting zero points, instead of 3-4. It's that simple. The Flyers aren't going to beat elite teams giving up soft goals.

Since the Winter Classic he's gotten visibly more comfortable playing the NHL game. It's nice to see after a rocky start to the season for him.

Yep, finally healthy.

Playing this well as a rookie, his ceiling is very high.

pretty much. breakdowns, shmakedowns, they happen, but a certain % of those need to be stopped by a solid goalie. put another way, what would the flyers record be in these four gms if hank was our goalie?

we can only hope that bryz can limit these going forward.

incorrect? no, that's an opinion and the operative word is appreciably. I'd rather have allen for what it will take to acquire him than throw JVR away for schenn. always get the dynamic puck mover for a top line forward. GMs obvi agree w/ this and that is a fact.

Plind.. It isnt soft goals that the Flyers are giving up that are costing them points. It is a terrible team break downs. There were 4 goals scored on bryz yesterday (and while Id say 2 were down right bad goals and the DZ goal should have been stopped) all of them came off of terrrrrible break downs. I dont care who is in net.. If you continue to have the breakdowns that we have had.. your goalies are toast.

The most impressive thing about the Rangers is their team defense. Not Lundqvist, but the 5 guys on the ice in front of him..

While I agree I would rather have Allen and keep JvR.. I disagree with the bolded.

I think Bill said it best, goaltender performance and team defense go hand-in-hand.

It's not an opinion. Schenn's upside is considerably higher then Allen's just based on age alone. Their age is a fact. Are you saying that a GM would never trade a first line forward for a top pair defensive defenseman? What is your statement that GM's obviously agree based on?
