Morganti said soft soft soft, and I do agree, he didn't poke at the puck, nothing, he just tilted his stick & created a ramp under his arm pit.
- puckhead17

Well, I disagree with Morganti on that one. He shouldn't have poked at it, he was trying to prevent a cross crease pass. You don't do that by poking at the puck.

Morganti also laid blame 100% on the goaltending and that's asinine. The Flyers had several awful turnovers, started the game flat and didn't even have a shot on goal for the first ten minutes.

Im really tired of having to defend him. His defense hasnt been consistent but that doesnt seem to change anytime soon. So he is going to have to be better than he was today. He has played much better over his last 4-5 starts which is a good sign.
- stveshdy

you don't have to defend him, just sit back watch & enjoy

I think that it's 99% mental. It's a new team, new system in front of him, new conference, new demands on him from the media, new everything. To top it off, he's had wretched luck thus far-deflections, goofy bounces...that stuff can snowball and hurt a guy's confidence and approach.

The resiliency he's shown in the past gives me a good deal of hope, though. His first full season in Phoenix he was dreadful, and rebounded the next year to be a Vezina finalist.

- Jsaquella

This is Philadelphia. We don't get Vezina caliber goalies.

I'd be happy with a GAA under 2.7 and a 910SV% at this point.

Honestly, I go with Bryz against the Islanders though.

I don't even care about his numbers, just eliminate the soft goals.

He was playing a very solid game until that Gaborik shot rolled up his stick and under his arm. Then it snowballed on him. That's what I mean by the bad luck making it harder on him.

That still doesn't explain how guys like Luke Schenn are easy to get. it skirts the subject. Like I said, if they were, the Flyers wouldn't be playing Bourdon and Gustafsson 16-18 minutes a night.
- MJL

no, you just skirted the issue, which was my point that jj is worth more than schenn and compensation for similar players recently proves the point. go get Bryan Allen for draft picks/ middling prospects and trade guys like JVR for dynamic puck movers that GMs value enuf to trade 1st line wingers+ for.

right now Allen is more consistent and schenn's upside isnt appreciably higher. good nite.

o man, now Morganti doesn't know hockey, we've had games where the opposition didn't have shots or pressure & we were still in same situation only opposite.
When he wasn't getting enough shots it's because he wasn't used to low shot totals, but today he saw too many shots & we lost as a team.
We do need to forecheck harder & be more physical, I give you that, but I disagree that Morganti doesn't know what he's talking about.

11 goals against and 6 goals scored in two games this weekend.

NJ & NYR arent high powered offenses and that worries me.

Bob was no better against the Islanders the last time the Flyers played them. Bryz needs to rebound from a bad game today.

Then again, I care a lot about Bob's development as well. Although I don't fault him for any of the goals, Lava did leave him in for 6 against the Devils.

Both are in the top half of the leauge.

NY actually is actually tops in the leauge (or right there) in 5 on 5 scoring.
