Johnson has a long way to go to be as good as Carle is in his own end. I disagree that guys like Schenn are not difficult commodities to find. That's a crazy statement. If that was true, the Flyers would have one to take the place of Bourdon or Gustafsson.

guys like schenn aren't close to fetching a Neal, niskanen return and j Johnson is better than gogo...

Lundqvist is a world class net-minder. He has put up stellar numbers his entire career regardless of what team is in front of him.

He is finally getting the help in front of him this year. The team in front of him blocks a ton of shots and absolutely swarm the puck. They dont give teams any space what so ever. It's all 5 guys playing as a unit.

Lundqvist would easily have better numbers then Bryz if he were on the Flyers. Even when the Rangers D does spring leaks, Hank bails them out. That's something Bryz has done very, very sparingly this year.

The Flyers could take notes from how the Rangers play. If they all focused on playing well defensively as a unit the way the Rangers do, you'd see Bryz's numbers easily go up (down, whatever). If Bryz isn't going to carry this team while their in their own end, then the rest of the team needs to start playing better as a unit and make life in front of him as easy as possible.

I would like to say though, without question, Bryz needs to be better. The team at least deserved to be in the game today. Bryz did not give them the opportunity to win.

in sayin that if we had lundqvist on this team we would be down right scary sure defense is shaky and has to play better but Henrik can steal games something bryz hasnt done yet
- Slammed81

The problem is the expectations for Bryzgalov are not realistic. He has never been in the same class as a Lundqvist. He is a very good goalie who is being paid alot this year but when you look at his cap hit, its not going to be that high in a few years from now when goalies are being paid even more money. We all want him to be better and know he has to but the team in general needs to be better.

I would never sign any goalie to that deal, It has nothing to do with him personally, but we're in a bad situation with this.

sign him for 3 or 4 years, yes I'm ok with that, but I can't wait to see his save % in the playoffs this year, that's what I'm waiting for

- puckhead17

If his current play continues, he shouldn't have any playoff statistics.

That still doesn't explain how guys like Luke Schenn are easy to get. it skirts the subject. Like I said, if they were, the Flyers wouldn't be playing Bourdon and Gustafsson 16-18 minutes a night.

That's the thing, it's too early to dismiss Bryzgalov as being a disaster. The early returns aren't good, but he's had bad years before and bounced back very strongly.

I like Bryzgalov. Not a huge fan of the contract. I think that he will be fine, but the contract is a monster.

That Gaborik goal was the worse groin kick this year so far

I agree. This is were coaching comes in. You have to make adjustments to your system that best suites your players.

Was the softest goal allowed this year by any Flyers goalie. The Flyers still tied the game up in the third and then they gave up great scoring chances to the Rangers again that ended any chance they had.

agreed the flyers are killing themselves with failed clear outs and turnovers and bryz needs to make the saves to keep or win the game for him...

Thats the problem. I don't think we have the personnel right now to play that kind of style in front of Bryz.

Our entire situation changes if Pronger's career isn't over.

People need to look at the big picture. Bill said it in one of his musings that Bryz's stats are sub-par but he has not been subpar in everygame. In fact when he wins the Flyers are exactly what they need him to be and when he loses he's more like what we saw today. You put a team playing tight like the Rangers do in front of him and his numbers get better thus making him better.

The Del Zotto goal was worse. The Gaborik goal was not good, but it was flukey. Bryzgalov seemed to be thinking about a cross crease play, rather than just getting the paddle down and hugging the post.

The Del Zotto one was the killer.

I saw a good amount of Bryz last year in PHX and he just shut the door on teams when the Yotes needed it the most. Maybe the different system is (frank)ing with him a bit. Look at the Blues, Halak was playing horrible early in the year and now Halak under Hitchcock is playing very very well. Maybe the D system in front of the goalie helps give him confidence to get into the zone.

I agree. I have far more of a problem with the Del Zotto goal. 9 times out of 10, that Gaborik goal hits the paddle and stays there.

The bottom line is that the Flyers are far, far too aggressive on the offensive side of the puck. That has to be fixed.
