goaltending is my biggest issue at this point its starting to get scary
- Slammed81

Really? I think goaltending is kind of tied in to your team defense. Would Lundqvist be as good playing behind this Flyers team? He may have better numbers than Bryz so far but I dont know if he would be having the same year as he is having in New York.

Bryz will adjust and it may not happen until later on or maybe next year but the Flyers need to find a way to get better defensively.

A 25 yarder isn't much farther than what the Giants would have been kicking there.
- JoeRussomanno

It isn't. But look at the AFC championship game. They weren't going to kick before 4th down, either. That's the other factor. Once the Giants got inside the 5, with a minute left and the Pats having just one time out, the only smart play was to get the ball back with as much time left as possible.

With the ball outside the 20, there's a better chance for a turnover. Once they got it to the 5, they weren't going to risk anything. If the Pats stop Bradshaw, and burn the TO, with 57 seconds left, Eli takes a knee twice, which runs the clock to 2 seconds left, calls a TO, and they kick a 18 yard FG and you lose without even giving Brady a shot.

Letting them score at least gave the offense a chance to in the game.

I don't think it's even a matter of brainwashing. It's junk food media, and there's a whole lot of it. It just happens to fit that folks with mashed potatoes for brains are easily manipulated.

when as the last "bad trade" Snider influenced Homer on?
- puckhead17

Do you think that handing Bryzgalov 9 years and $51mm was Homer's idea?

I give it credit where due: It's a creative, thoughtful cartoon with real story telling elements. But it's a children's cartoon, if you're making it a lifestyle there's some serious issues that need to be resolved.

Team defense is a far bigger issue. In goal, I have faith that Bryzgalov can bounce back and that Bobrovsky can become a good starter.

The owner can make that mistake cause he is paying the cash for it. No one is going to question what he wants.

I like Bryzgalov. Not a huge fan of the contract. I think that he will be fine, but the contract is a monster.

in sayin that if we had lundqvist on this team we would be down right scary sure defense is shaky and has to play better but Henrik can steal games something bryz hasnt done yet

This could just be a down year for Bryzgalov. He is being paid big money but sometimes a player fails to live up to expectations in the first year of his deal. I want him to succeed and I hope he does but team defense is a concern to me.

Lundqvist is a world class net-minder. He has put up stellar numbers his entire career regardless of what team is in front of him.

He is finally getting the help in front of him this year. The team in front of him blocks a ton of shots and absolutely swarm the puck. They dont give teams any space what so ever. It's all 5 guys playing as a unit.

Lundqvist would easily have better numbers then Bryz if he were on the Flyers. Even when the Rangers D does spring leaks, Hank bails them out. That's something Bryz has done very, very sparingly this year.

The Flyers could take notes from how the Rangers play. If they all focused on playing well defensively as a unit the way the Rangers do, you'd see Bryz's numbers easily go up (down, whatever). If Bryz isn't going to carry this team while their in their own end, then the rest of the team needs to start playing better as a unit and make life in front of him as easy as possible.

I would like to say though, without question, Bryz needs to be better. The team at least deserved to be in the game today. Bryz did not give them the opportunity to win.

I would never sign any goalie to that deal, It has nothing to do with him personally, but we're in a bad situation with this.

sign him for 3 or 4 years, yes I'm ok with that, but I can't wait to see his save % in the playoffs this year, that's what I'm waiting for

They can be, but both areas need to improve. The last two games were extreme examples of neither part working well. Tam defense is helped when the goalie doesn't allow a soft goal, and the goalie is helped when the team defense doesn't allow the 3 on 1 or manages to handle the rebound.
