The key was that New England only had 1 time out. Say they stop Bradshaw. They burn their time out. The Giants take a knee twice, run the clock down to 2 seconds, then kick a field goal and Brady doesn't get a shot to win.

It's noble to say that teams in the past wouldn't have let him score out of pride, but it's also foolish, given the clock, field position and situation. When the other team can run the clock down to nothing and kick what is basically an extra point with no time left to win, you want the ball back ASAP.

Up until the whole hercule guy and them other seravallitards showed up iwas okay with the ocassional lame sideshow act. They needed to keep the weaklings they killed off dead too.
