Something tells me that Schenn turns out to be a very special player and trading him isn't a smart move.
- JoeRussomanno

Id hate to.

You have to give to get though.

I dont envy Homer here. Lot of tough decisions last few years.

If the Flyers are trading JVR or any of the top young guys they better be sure they are getting a great player in return.

Jack Johnson. Is inconsistent in EFFORT and has a questionable attitude.

The team started a move this summer to move away from guys like that.

Mark Giordano might be available in the off-season. Decent fill in if the Flyers arent willing to give up the pieces for a guy like Weber.

- flyer_nutter

I would love giordano. Why would he be available? If there is anyway the flyers can move Briere like the hawks moved Campbell. I hope the flyers would explore that

Even the deal you proposed. Lets say two firsts, JVR and Schenn. Id do it. Ive talked about that here my last few times though, dont want to bore myself.

I want nothing to do with Suter. Dont think he is the kind of D-man that is worth the money he will seek. Boychuk would be my only real FA target.

- flyer_nutter

I really like Suter. He's a very good player. But I'm leaning more and more towards if Suter is going to cost 7M a year, and Carle 5M a year. Then I'm not sure that Suter is 2M a year better then Carle.

That's why I'm of the mindset you go for a Luke Schenn if he is available.

If you offer a first and voracek for giordano. May take more.

Just a hypothetical. Dream scenerious of course but I get bored talking about Bryz all the time.

Id personally keep Briere. A good soldier. He is money in the playoffs.

Giordano isn't having a very good year.

Briere also has a NMC that he's not waiving, so it's kind of like talking about firing Snider

I'd rather stand pat, then get Weber as a UFA next summer
- Jsaquella

Weber isnt getting traded at the deadline, so no worries.

Id keep Carle. Only if one of Meszaros or Coburn are dealt.

I dont want roughly 15 million locked up in those 3. Good d-men but too inconsistent for that kind of cash.

Suter isnt a 7 million/year player to me. He might be, but not with Bryz being paid what he is and the young kids needing extensions in the future. Suter will want money and years.

If you want good defenseman, you have to pay for them. If you keep Carle, you can't trade Meszaros or Coburn unless you get a defenseman back. Who is going to take their place? Bryzgalov's Cap hit as the years go along is very reasonable.

I'm talking Weber, Suter or any "huge" name defenseman

Hypothetically Id prefer a guy like Boychuk.

Or Douglas Murray/Giordano via trade.

Flyers should stay pat unless they acquire a defenseman for cheap who can eat some minutes up. The Flyers can upgrade the defense during the draft and free agency.

I have seen enough of this defensive group, time to make changes if this current group doesnt turn it around.

Homer needs to stand pat, and let this group grow. Keep the picks, draft as well as you can, and fill the holes in FA.

This year isn't the year. And I would still rather see this group face adversity together and come out the other side stronger for it.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, but unless the Bruins charter hits the Rangers charter in a mid air collision, the Flyers aren't beating either of them in a 7 game series.

I dont see it that way. But then again I may be the only person who thinks this defensive group is vastly overrated. Their decision making is terrible and im tired of seeing the same mistakes over and over. I been saying this for over a year that this group just isnt good enough. I dont want to hear about how they made it to the cup bc alot went right for them plus they had a healthy Pronger.

Time to make moves if these guys cant get the job done.
