Just looking for some opinions.

In my keeper league I picked up Pronger and stuck him on IR. Know someone is offering me Varlamov and Greening for him, Connolly, and Sanford.

Not sure what to do as his health status is so unknown, but at the same time I picked him up for nothing. Varly is struggling but I could use another goalie, and he certainly has the talent to develop into a true #1.

Coaches decision for Gustafsson. Bobrovsky made a lot of big saves in the game. I don't think he was bad. He got hung out to dry for the most part.

Gus needs to play IMO. He's an upgrade over MAB and Lilja.

Pronger isn't going to play again this year. And maybe never again.

I don't think he's much of an upgrade over Bourdon at this point. Lilja is a 6/7. I like Gustafsson, but he is very small. He makes Carle look big. If Gustafsson was an upgrade over Bourdon right now, Bourdon would be sitting and Gustafsson would be playing.

The last minute of the first period where Hartnell went temporarily insane and forgot he was playing Hockey, took a penalty and a goal was scored. Then on the PP to start the 2nd, another PP goal. Followed immediately by another goal, and it was the game. If they could have kept the first to 2-0, and come out in the 2nd ready to play, they might have had a chance at pulling it out. Completely lost focus and discipline.
- MJL

that's exactly right. and the lost focus at the end of the period and enusing goal is why i wanted bryz to start the second. not a knock on bob. lava needed to slap them in the face with a wake up call. he probably felt they could get back in the game and wanted to give bryz a rest to be sharp for today's contest - i get that.

Bourdon has been very prone to turnovers, and Lilja pretty much is below average in all situations. Gus impressed me at times even over the past couple of games with his skating ability and the way he jumps into the attack. I'd much rather see him in the lineup personally.

bourdon has taken a bit of a step back in my opinion. he's taking too long to make decisions and is turning the puck over in his own end. i wouldn't mind seeing gusty get more ice because he's been out with the injury and i'd like to see him get as much experience as possible before the playoffs. i don't trust that they'll move to get a dman and if not, they're going to need him in the playoffs. lava will shorten his defensive bench.

Lilja is not below average in all situations. He is a solid veteran 6/7 defenseman. And has done what he was brought here to be. There has to be a reason why Gustafsson is sitting and Bourdon isn't. Gustafsson has had the same turnover issues.

Bourdon's game has slipped some, but that's to be expected. I still like him better right now then Gustafsson. I don't like Gustafsson's size. It could change down the stretch. But right now I favor Bourdon over Gustafsson.

he's more physical and i like that part of his game. i think gustafsson is quicker and moves the puck better, but i don't have a problem with bourdon staying in over gustafsson right now. i'm just worried about the playoffs and lava not having trust in the youth where he goes to a basic 4 man rotation. it doesn't work.

Hopefully they add an experienced defenseman for the stretch and the playoffs.

i hope so too, but at what price? it's such a chess match. trying to find that quality 3-4 stop gap player without giving up too much.

I wouldn't be looking for a quality 3-4. Just a solid veteran with size who can play some PK minutes.

And there's the rub. Adding a difference maker weakens the team in other areas, not just now, but in the future as well. Getting a guy like Gill, who isn;t really a huge difference maker, might not be enough to get them over the hump.

Yesterday was a learning experience for a team that is still pretty young. They need to take yesterday's game in two parts-use the third period to gain confidence and the first two periods to get angry at themselves and light a fire for the rest of the way

I see the Flyers coming out of the gates quickly but stymied by Lundqvist and the Flyers giving up a fluky goal thus draining all the mo.

I'm still pissed about that game yesterday.

who's on your list? is this vet someone you'd ideally want to keep beyond this season or are you looking for a UFA to keep the cost of the transaction down and just get through the playoffs?

i don't know that i have a "difference maker" in mind. i'd just like a quality vet that can eat up a lot of minutes. a solid player with a lot of playoff experience. gill could be that guy, i suppose.

everytime we think we'll see the flyers learn from something and come out with energy it seems they disappoint. given that today is against the blueskirts and they're 0-3, combined with the way the WC ended as well as yesterday's poop show, i'd like to believe they'll be ready to play today. bryz is going to need to be the man today - no (frank)ing softies.

I would love Mark Stuart and Johnny Oduya as the 3rd pair

The black Bobby Orr owns the Flyers
