How about this for a trade between Columbus and Toronto;

To Toronto:
Jeff Carter
1st round pick this year

To Columbus:
Tyler Bozak
Carl Gunnarsson
Nik Kulemin
1st round pick this year
2nd round pick this year

Here is why this could be possible:

For Toronto - Bozak would be expendible with Carter coming in. Gunnarsson is a good, solid D but we have too many and someone has to go (no one is going to take Komisarek plus his cap hit is too high / Franson's salary is too low since both teams are close to the cap). Kulemin is a good strong forward who is having a bad year but again would be expendible. More importantly, these players make the total salaries going either way almost even (about 200k more going to Toronto).

As for Columbus - Carter is easy to explain. But why the 1st pick (1st overall as well)? The top two players in this year's draft are Russians - small market teams don't do well with Russian players (see Radulov & Filatov). So to help Columbus "save face" Toronto would take the 1st overall and draft Yakupov (who would then take Kulemin's spot next season). Columbus gets a decent centre, a top 6 forward and a top 3 D, plus a 1st this year and a 2nd to offset everything. Also, Toronto is taking the massive long contract off Columbus' hands, so they have to give them something decent.

Works for everyone right?

Tough call. Trade your franchise player for more pieces that can bomb, or trade Jeff Carter who is very disinterested ... is at a low as far as trade value - probably in the same range as Gagner was before his eight-point outing, a fifth rounder. Sorry, that is all Carter is worth these days based on what he has shown - play wise and attitude wise.

Gagner followed up his 8 pt game with 2 G, 1 A in the 1st period against Detroit. 11 points in 1 1/3rd games. Discuss.

Even more amazing when you take out that he had 0 points in the 1st last game, so 11 points in 3 periods (but of course you do have to take it into account)

Dude..... He's worth at least a 1st.... Absolutely crazy....

I can really see him going to either Toronto or LA, they're probably the most "desperate" teams to have him. Both have all eyes on them to make the playoffs and need that big centremen. To be perfectly honest i see it as Torontos 1st + a top end prospect for him if we get him, or someone like Bernier + prospect + 2nd if LA lands him, his value is wayyyy down, small market teams can't afford to pay 5+ mil for a guy who isn't producing, they CANNOT spend to the cap, and Nash already takes up enough of that cap.

I really hope BB makes the deal, i'd love me a Kadri - Carter - Lupul line, and yes that leaves out kessel, but you dont need 3 bloody goal scorers on the same line... but who knows what will happen.

And to all the ppl with the blah blah blah 5+ mil for 10 years is so bad, that is an absolute bargain, i know its 10 years, whatever, he's a steal at 5 mil now ( when healthy) and will prob be worht that up until he retires.... That deal was a hometown discount, i remember how happy flyers fans were when they landed this deal. 40 + goal scoring big centre for 5 mil and thats the problem? please... Get it done.

Player A 12 points in 8 games and plays with heart.

Player B 18 points in 31 games and is a baby.

Something tells me, Player A will finish the season with more points than player B once he returns this year. Carter isn't work one of Sid's dirty socks even right now.

From last night...

Can't imagine how bad he felt. He was 1 for 5 on 40+ yard FG tries on grass that year. Mark ingram is in jail. Little off topic, did you see the steve bartman documentary on espn a few months back?
