What's going on with the Flyers today? - VANTEL
Itwas 1-0 when the refs didnt call a completely blatant trip that led to a 2 on 1 goal to make it 2-0. The flyers got so frustrated and didnt recover. The refs should be fired after this one. Awful |

I think the Islanders would be players for Rick Nash if they offered Nino Niederreiter, Calvin De Haan, and their 2012 first rounder. That's a 19 year old 5th overall pick, a 21 year old 12th overall pick, and a top 10 pick this year. Three top prospects= Rick Nash. It won't happen because until the arena stuff is figured out, I don't think the Isles want to pay anyone $7.8M a year (especially since Nash isn't Crosby/Ovechkin). But just for fun, imagine Tavares and Nash on that first line? OMG. |

I just think it's a good deal all around. BJ's get younger and cheaper, and the Islanders get a guy who can help them take the leap from bubble team/rebuilder to contender. |

They are not rentals. Should moved them at the draft if they want to do so, when teams will have more cap space. |

Could work out for both teams I guess. You would need to keep Parenteau after that if you want to contend. |

How about this for a trade between Columbus and Toronto;
To Toronto:
Jeff Carter
1st round pick this year
To Columbus:
Tyler Bozak
Carl Gunnarsson
Nik Kulemin
1st round pick this year
2nd round pick this year
Here is why this could be possible:
For Toronto - Bozak would be expendible with Carter coming in. Gunnarsson is a good, solid D but we have too many and someone has to go (no one is going to take Komisarek plus his cap hit is too high / Franson's salary is too low since both teams are close to the cap). Kulemin is a good strong forward who is having a bad year but again would be expendible. More importantly, these players make the total salaries going either way almost even (about 200k more going to Toronto).
As for Columbus - Carter is easy to explain. But why the 1st pick (1st overall as well)? The top two players in this year's draft are Russians - small market teams don't do well with Russian players (see Radulov & Filatov). So to help Columbus "save face" Toronto would take the 1st overall and draft Yakupov (who would then take Kulemin's spot next season). Columbus gets a decent centre, a top 6 forward and a top 3 D, plus a 1st this year and a 2nd to offset everything. Also, Toronto is taking the massive long contract off Columbus' hands, so they have to give them something decent.
Works for everyone right?

Russian's don't work on small market teams, yet they are trading for Kulemin? Doesn't make sense.
Would love to see it happen, but it is a massive undervalue of Carter. BTW his contract in as little as 2 years will be cheap.
