The game Tuesday night against the Jets, it was about 5 minutes in the 1st and Lava had someone (can't remember who) out in Shelley's place.

If Lava can't trust him 5 minutes in to the game he shouldn't be in the line up.

Not trying to get into a Shelley debate just saying if he can't be trusted by Lava at that point it makes no sense to have him in the lineup for 3 minutes or whatever he gets.

Does the same go for players like Harry Z? Because I could show you a game where Harry Z didn't get a single shift in the 3rd period. Same for Rinaldo. Let's apply the same standards to every player. A Coach is supposed to shorten his bench in certain game situations. Especially in a game where they are struggling to get shots on net, and to create offense, and to score goals. And it was what one shift? Do you know the exact reason why Shelley wasn't out on that shift? How about I go back and look at the shift charts, and see how Shelley was used at later points in the game. Did Laviolette find new found trust in Shelley after the first period. Shelley averages 5:16 a game in icetime. Shelley had 6:21 of icetime in that Jets game. Shelley has done a nice job filling in for the injuries when he's been called on to play.

I was just talking about Shelley and how Lava didn't trust him 5 minutes into a scoreless game, wasn't talking about anybody else.

You don't know that's why Laviolette didn't send him out there for one shift. I can apply the same speculation to players such as Harry Z. If were going to just make it up to suit how we personally feel about a player.

Again, you don't know that Shelley wasn't on the ice for that shift due to a trust issue. Look at TOI charts. Why did Shelley see more time in the first period after that shift that he wasn't on the ice for. Laviolette searched his soul and gained newfound trust in Shelley?

Laviolette reacting to what the other team is doing, instead of using the same lineup that defeated a red hot Nashville team. Pathetic.

Put a losing player into the lineup because the Devils are dressing Boulton and Jansen. Comical.

As I pointed out the other day, the Flyers are under .500 in the 20 games (frank)face has played. Guy is a pathetic -6 in limited ice time. Of all the players in the NHL who average below 6 minutes of ice time, Shelley has the worst +/- of any player in the sport. Get this (frank)ing slug off this team already. I'm sick of looking at him.

Matt Read fulfills his childhood dream of centering Sestito and Shelley

19-28-68; 27-14-93; 36-10-17; 45-24-32

he deserves rookie of the year for that alone

I see no need to change the lineup but Lava must feel they need the size over the speed of HarryZ. Shelley should have no impact on the game anyway, I think Mike Ruff said it best.

Sestito nearly had a goal against Nashville. Hit a post IIRC.

I've read numerous opinions, for months at a time, where you have given the opinion that Shelley is irrelevant. And that Shelley has no bearing on the outcome of a game. To paraphrase, and please correct me if I'm wrong. Now lately you've been insinuating with your posts, that Shelley is to blame for the losses. So which is it, is he irrelevant and has no effect on the outcome of the game. Or does he have an effect on the outcome of the game?

I agree, the lineup shouldn't be changed. Rupp also regretted making those comments, and knew he was wrong.

TGfireandice Tom Gulitti
Devils' lines in warm-ups: Parise-Elias-Kovalchuk; Sykora-Zubrus-Clarkson; Ponikarovsky-Josefson-Bernier; Boulton-Mills-Harrold.

Devils aren't even dressing Jansen. They are electing to play a defenseman on their 4th line in Peter Harrold instead. Tells you how useless these goons are.
