Hockey Night in Canada Reports that Jeff Carter DOES NOT have a No-Trade Clause because he was traded from Philadelphia.
- Schenn2shine

It doesnt go into effect until next year I believe. He has to be a certain age before the NTC kicks in

Hockey Night in Canada is wrong. Carter has a NTC but it doesn't kick in until the 12/13 Season.

A 2nd is far too much for Gill. And a 3rd is overpayment for Nabokov. Have zero interest in Bouwmeester. And don't want to trade for a 35 year old player in Iginla. And aren't interested in giving up 1st round picks in a trade.

That Hockey Night in Canada is reporting he doesn't have a No Trade Cause. He doesn't. There is no point in talking about a No-Trade that doesn't exists right now. That's what GM's were worried about.

Meaning that he can be traded this Season? Yes that is correct. But he does have a NTC in his contract. So your original statement is misleading. And if HNIC said it was because he was traded from the Flyers, that he doesn't have a NTC, they are incorrect.

I'll have to read more about this, but it is out there...

@SpectorsHockey: A. Portzline of Columbus Dispatch & Eric Francis of CBC confirm Jeff Carter's NTC was nullified after he was dealt to CBJ.

Just wondering. Has everyone done the pros and cons of a JvR for Luke Schenn trade by comparing the two young players? JvR is taller, Schenn is tougher, JvR is more skilled, Schenn is more healthy.

There is no question that I would love Luke on this team but without question JvR is the better player in the deal and JvR would need to be replaced in some shape of form. Even if Kadri was added to the deal and Burke felt that would be too much for JvR, I would offer a 3rd rounder at the most. Burke can make the argument that Schenn and Kadri are their future but we can argue that these are exactly building block players even though both are still young and both were drafted high within their classes. Still, Schenn is a defensive defenseman that's probably ever going to post 30 point seasons at his best and Kadri is only a one dimensional player.

I was also thinking that Kadri could be flipped at anytime because he is a young player with offensive upside.

Am I off base on this?

was listening to the fourth period radio show a little and they were saying that LA might be interested in JVR (assuming of course, that he comes back healthy) and that jack Johnson would be a good fit as a return for the flyers. they didn't think schenn straight up was realistic and didn't talk much about the leafs after that. I know some of these guys have their finger on the pulse of the trade mkt, but they are certainly not at the level of dreger/Mackenzie and it sounded like they were strictly speculating. they did indicate a strong sense of urgency on lombardi's part, but Ive heard that pretty much everywhere.

He wasn't eligible-or isn't eligible-until July 1st 2012, which is when it kicks in.

Aaron Portzline reported-no idea if it's accurate-that the trade from the Flyers meant that the NTC in Carter's deal had to be agreed to by both the Jackets and Carter...that doesn't seem correct to me, but I will defer to your knowledge on the CBA in this area.

I don't see how Johnson is an especially good fit for the Flyers, though

I had heard something about the bolded section at the time of the trade, but never got any verification.

The headline if there was one was "Jeff Carter Does Not have a No Trade Cause", which I guess was the worry among GM's. What they did say is, the Clause was notified due to him being traded this past summer but the other will be kick in by the time he reaches his 27th Birthday (Which I can't confirm or Deny). Then after a certain amount of seasons, he has a limited No Trade but I don't know what year it is.

Luke Schenn just scored his second of the season.

I just read something that I think says that I'm wrong. This is from capgeek.

If a player waives a clause to accept a trade to a new team, it is rare he will do so without a promise that the acquiring team will continue to honour the clause. Brad Richards, when traded from Tampa Bay to Dallas in 2007-08, is an example of this. However, if the player is traded before a clause has kicked in, that clause is automatically ruled void.
